Marines unveil plan to modernize their small arms arsenal

Marines could soon be carrying everything from custom-painted rifles and suppressors to lightweight tripods and plastic-cased ammunition as the Corps rolls out a massive small-arms modernization plan officials hope will give the service an edge on the battlefield for decades to come.

You wouldn't expect those new Marine Infantry females to carry heavy stuff would you???

More wasted money. Overpriced weapons, overpaid personnel. Screwed over taxpayers.

boy, this sounds familiar. the marines wanted the Stoner 63 system. the army and the pentagon said NO you will use the M-16.

my guess is they will do the same here. the marines will want some game-changing system, and the army and the pentagon will squash it...not because it's bad, but because it wasn't their idea.

Nothing wrong with a rattle can paint job for a rifle that is going to be abused. black is not the color to have. Of course our gov would go with a $1000 paint job. Free float barrels and match triggers might be handy for a sniper, but I do not think the average soldier needs sub-MOA performance. As stated above, just pissing away more of our money.
