Another infringement. And another reason for private sales, reloading and interstate smuggling.

Midnight on Lake Michigan under a smuggler's moon. "Screw Cook County. Get this ammo to the trucks."
States look to tax guns, ammo

Hmmm does this mean that 5% of ALL ammo shall be returned to the state?

One question springs to mind: How fast would they like it to arrive?

It appears that they are determined to go to war with gun owners!

Taxing cigarettes has worked out really well?

Taxing cigarettes at $2+ per pack makes it worth while to visit the rez, do some interstate mail order, ask about anyone selling cheap cartons at the local bar.

Funding children's 2nd hand lung cancer with tobacco taxes sounds real nice, until most people stop smoking and the rest smuggle their coffin nails. Revenue collapses, "crime" thrives.

Just ask about anyone with a few old cases of .308 or .22LR to sell. Some of them might have just been manufactured.

Step back and watch the collapse and desperate ineffective countermeasures.

A Springfield 40 mm pistol? Typical left winger writing on a subject he knows nothing about. Too stupid to be allowed to breathe.

Any time a firearm is used to defend oneself in a crime is a benefit to society, not a burden. However, criminals that are stealing weapons and ammunition and then reselling on the street are not paying any taxes on those transactions.

You must remind yourself that court generated tobacco settlement money and cigarette tax money in many states goes into the state's general fund and does not pay for either tobacco-related medical care or health education.

Taxation is an infringement.

Damn! Always a day late & a dollar short. Been wanting to get into reloading, but now supplies are none to scarce, and expensive to boot.

Looks like taxing ammo is drawing some flack.
