Oops. One more I simply had to link to.

A visit to a gun store
Writing this piece has left me with a very tight knot in my stomach that I have not had in decades. It's the feeling we're headed into a major civil war and there isn't a damned thing anyone can do about it.

I visited our local gun store yesterday. Pretty much the same story here. Pretty much all AR-15s gone. 1 AR-15 on consignment for $2995; on AK-74 with 3 30 rd mags and bayonette for 1975, one saiga 12 ga with a 20 rd drum for $1800; out of mags; no case quantities of ammo, parking lot packed; store crowded, still a few pistols but very busy. Online is just as bad with high cap mags virtually sold out nationwide.

Mike I just got back from shoping at Wal-mart- AMMO GONE- They had ONE box 'O 10MM ONE box 9MM some .22 and .410 thats it. My local large G&A has NO ammo and NO SA firearms. One local farmer said; "If that Ass HOLE in the white house make a move this countrys gonna blow up" about 30 men said AMEN!! Mike things are turning realy ugly up hear in Ky. People hear aren't hideing guns, they are asking frends and family if they need one,and then giveing them wepons and ammo. Guys who shoot together are asking if anybody has field gear& BDUs. All it'll take now is one stupid to set this shit off.

If a confiscation is ordered, my advice to cops is to simply quit your job or don't go in to work. Anyone in a uniform or in a squad car will become a target. Even worse, so will their families.

One final note regarding burial tubes - if it's time to bury your firearms, it's time to USE your firearms.

They do mean to kill and feel good about it.

"The authorites are well aware of what will be required when it comes to confiscation. I severly doubt any of these guys have the balls to come out firing on a SWAT team. If they do, they’ll be killed by them. Good riddance."

I called my state rep to ask where he stands on the gun control issue.

The person on the phone said he’s 100% pro-gun, so I asked if other people are calling on the issue of gun control.

I was told people where both calling and coming to the office and that some were so angry they were near tears.

Locally people are using words like Revolution, civil war and up-rising like you would talk about the weather.

I too did an online search and found that parts are being sold out as well. It looks like people that cant buy guns are buying parts to assemble one later.

*I also heard a retired State Trooper on a radio show say he is hearing that Obama is going to make his move on gun owners 30-60 days after the inauguration.

Mike have you heard anything like this?

"Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state." - Thomas Jefferson

"The unarmed man can only flee from evil. And evil is never overcome by fleeing from it." - Jeff Cooper

"I am sometimes perplexed by people who refer to defensive rifles, or defensive rifle shooting. The defensive arm is the pistol, since you have it at hand to meet situations that you do not anticipate. If you have the luxury of anticipating a lethal encounter, you pick up a long arm, either a rifle or a shotgun, but in that case you go on to the attack. Thus rifle shooting is offensive, and pistol shooting is defensive. Of course, life does not always duplicate theory, and there are exceptions to everything, but nevertheless the rifle is not a defensive weapon in concept." - Jeff Cooper

"Let's make this clear: there's a huge difference between being (i.e. caught) in a fight and going to a fight. If you knew in advance that you had to shoot a Bad Guy (i.e. going to a fight), you wouldn't pick a handgun, would you? No. You'd take a rifle. A handgun is merely a weapon used to fight your way back to your rifle - which you shouldn't have left behind..." - Boston T. Party

"Today's liberals wish to disarm us so they can run their evil and oppressive agenda on us. The fight against crime is just a convenient excuse to further their agenda. I don't know about you, but if you hear that Williams' guns have been taken, you'll know Williams is dead." - Walter Williams

"What country before ever existed a century and a half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." - Thomas Jefferson

So what does this sharp increase in demand in AR-15 rifles, ammunition, accessories and overall everything associated with firearms tell you? It is a vital part of the "national discussion", where many are proclaiming with vigor, "Hell, no!"

"It is amusing to hear some of the culturally deprived types maintain that "no one needs an assault gun." According to the founding fathers, all adult males are members of the militia, except for a few public officials. As members of the militia, we need to be checked out on the M16. This piece is not my idea of a good gun, but it is the official personal arm of the US Armed Forces, and it is our business to understand it. Thus we have need of it, whether we like it or not." - Jeff Cooper (2000)

Great post.

At the local Cabela's ammo section people (both customers and clerks) were all saying these sorts of things. One guy said to me "I'm a Korean War veteran. I fought to stop communism, and now we have a communist in the Whitehouse. I'm here looking at ammo thinking of what to buy if the feds come breaking down my door. How could it come to this?"

My own posts on this is here.

this was also the theme song for the movie “Next of Kin” with Patrick Swayze.

The RKBA crowd (us) has hated the term assault weapon and much has been written about that term, etc.

I have a new, working definition for "assault weapon" --

An "assault weapon" is any gun a leftist politician or activist wants to ban and confiscate.

Same story here in Massachusetts. The local Firearms stores are all packed, with all semi-auto rifles except 22's gone. Ammo also is getting sparse.

As far as the "Burial Tubes",there is something else going on. Some people are burying some of their Weapons as a safe stash, while keeping most of their Firearms above ground ready to use.

To "Ivy Mike", Apparently some SWAT and Police and federal law enforcement, have forgotten about the LA Bank shootout and what two trapped and committed individuals were able to do against numerous police officers at close range. Consider that if the Bleep hits the fan, while some of the scenarios the SWAT Teams will face will be charging into Houses where the occupants surrender easily, Many of the confrontations will have Law enforcement and Military being sniped at and ambushed from so many directions that are going to make their heads spin.

Add to that the addition of "Soft Target" on both sides will probably be engaged. I suspect that while the LE's might be planning on House to House with the quick surrender of most occupants and with the slaughter of anyone who offers up the slightest bit of resistance to send a "Message".I suspect that there are even islamists who have been sub-contracted to help Obama's gestapo's carry out that slaughter. That "Message" will enrage the people , after initially being paralyzed in fear, the vast majority of people and quickly unite them in Hardcore opposition to the government forces. Then it will quickly degenerate away from that scenario with the sniping and ambush scenario being predominant.
