I too fell prey to the panic as I impulse bought a Colt Tactical .22 on Wednesday thinking after I leave here today without that last Colt Tactical .22 at my favorite gun store, it may be months if not years before I see another one at the below $500 price even if an AWB is not put into law. I also bought the last 30 mag the guy had and ordered two 10 round mags (20 and 30 rounders were out of stock) from Umarex the next day.
A secondary reason? People may well be thinking that 2013 will bring the final collapse of the dollar, and they are converting them into tangible assets that will hold value in uncertain times.
I went to a local gun show yesterday. More guns on sale than last time. More people at the show than last time. Higher prices than last time. Lots of shotguns, handguns, deer rifles (this is a rural area). Only 2 AR-15s offered in whole show. I wanted a .45 carbine, but the only one offered was too expensive for me. Nice gun, probably fair price, but outside my budget.

Day-yum!
I have NEVER seen a line like that at the Knoxville gun show, not even after Obama got elected the first time!
I see no Panic, rather an orderly procession to go shopping.
Unlike the madness at best buy on black Friday.
I heard it was wall-to-wall PACKED at the Chantilly VA gun show today. No thanks, I'll wait until the rush is over and prices drop to normal.
spent many hours at the Chilhowie park gun shows. spent lots of money as well

They aren't buying them at inflated prices in order to get a $200 gift certificate from the government.

Make a crisis and then fix it with Needed" infringements and prohibitions which you really wanted to get all along...
This is being done deliberately and they know that you know. But no one else will be allowed to know, you can bet money on it.
uh, is that show held at a school?
