Burned fingers.

No sooner had it been reported that Civitas Media was planning on publishing a nationwide database of concealed carry permit holders than we get this burned finger update from The Daily Caller:
Following the publication of this report, Civitas Media announced that it rejected its internal proposal to build a database of concealed carry permit holders. Civitas CEO Michael C. Bush, who declined to comment to The Daily Caller because he was boarding a plane this morning, later said in a statement, “A poorly crafted internal memo meant to highlight editorial discussions and planning incorrectly indicated that such a database was being planned; it has been considered and rejected.”
My, my. Burned fingers indeed. It remains to be seen if they decide to stay out of the citizen disarmament business, however.

Surprisingly enough, the virulently anti gun Toledo Blade is owned by Block, not Civitas.

I love that graphic, and pinched it. Hope we have many more reasons to use it. :)

But I have to laugh each time this "database of permit holders" comes up...

Why would anyone in their right mind want to beg for a "permit" to start with? sigh

"Burned fingers" indeed.

I wonder if a particularly knowledgeable and pointed message was delivered to the CEO to make him change his mind (and maybe his underwear) so quickly.

Dossiers work both ways.

"Poorly crafted internal memo"

PR-speak for: "We got caught."

An "internal memo" got leaked. So after a bit of outrage, we won't be carrying out this plan. Riiiight. Does anyone believe this "idea" came from some newspaper hack somewhere? I'd wager not. This P.O.S. idea came from somewhere inside the DOJ. They figured out they could probably pull off this stunt of collecting names nationwide through the access given to the "media" by means of the FOIA, receive the results they desire, and all the while not have their grimy little fingerprints anywhere on it. Public pronouncements regarding not "publishing" the results to the contrary, I would not be surprised to find out that the actual collection of the info WILL take place. The Feds will just have to find another way to have it handed to them after the collection is complete. Perhaps a subpoena in the interest of "national security?" Is there somewhere WE can track FOIA requests, to remain vigilant on such madness (have any other "news services" filed such info requests?) and connect a few dots for ourselves? (a side note: Stay strong Mike. Best wishes to you and Rosy.)

So how come government lackeys fingers aren't burned for actually building that exact same data base?

Oh that's right - they take our money at the point of a gun no matter what we the people say or do.....

I would much rather have a list of Media Idiots who want to compile lists of CCDW holders. That list of Media Idiots sure would be fun to have so I could clog their sewer pipes with concrete. Every time I have used "CONSTIPATION" it has worked like a charm.
