“It’s like a Walking Dead TV series.”

John Labreche, the head of a private school in Birmingham, Alabama, called the region a “zombie land.” Gas stations are running out of gas and grocery stores out of food. And semi trucks that normally would resupply the businesses aren’t able to travel on the roads – because of the gridlock and the icy roads, he said. . . “Cars are everywhere, stuck on the roads. Trucks are jackknifed. People are going up the interstate the wrong way. It is crazy.”

Maybe the folks who get through this and don't die will use the hardships they went through as a learning experience and get motivated so that next time they may be more prepared...

After moving to Houston in 1981, I experienced a "snowstorm" there the following January. 0.04 inches of snow effectively shut the town down -- the infrastructure simply didn't exist. I never figured out how they measured that little snow.

I used to work with a guy from International Falls who delighted in telling the story of the day the wind chill went to 64 below. In those conditions it is literally possible to freeze to death while crossing the street.

Positive thoughts headed your way, Dutchman.

Yeah most urban retail of consumable goods are only a few days without resupply.

Makes you think if a little snow can do that what something serious could do.

Be safe. Be prepared.

I have observed people standing in line for drinking water in Miami the day after a category 1 hurricane. Some people prepare. Some don't

The Walking Dead comment was echoed by a local news guy as video played showing one person walking down a totally empty lane of Hwy 280, with dozens of abandoned or wrecked cars off on the opposite shoulder. Kept waiting for a rotting figure to lurch out from between cars.
