If I may paraphrase the Kentucky judge in this case: You WILL, by Gaia, do what the gub'mint tells you to do!

Big Amish Bruder with a little Krinkov, or just a bad photoshop? We report, you decide.

Amish men jailed for not displaying buggy safety signs.

**A tip of the boonie hat to Irregular "F.G." for the link and the photo.

kiliI live near the Amish in Kentucky, the reason for the signs was a group of kids were killed when their buggy was hit by a truck. It is a safety issue, as several night we have come up on unlite buggies and almost hit them.
One Amish guy has a sense of humor and has a "Born to be a Rebel" sticker on his reflector.

The Amish want to use public roads without complying with safety laws, which causes accidents. The Amish are selfishly endangering others (as opposed to only endangering themselves). If the Amish are that opposed to safety laws they are free to not use public roads.

This is a rule of law issue, in my opinion.

Just my two cents.

Amish and their buggies. They don't have Amish in Kansas but they DO have Mennonites which is pretty near the same thing. Used to have to drive out to the Titan II sites to work on the radios on complex. Kansas is pretty flat but it ain't no table top. You haven't LIVED 'til you've topped a little rise or come out of a little low spot a 63 to find a Mennonite driving his buggy a couple of car lengths in front of you. Definitely have to change drawers afterwards! I did that a few times but - thank goodness - never hit one. Had a buddy who wasn't so lucky. Topped the rise, locked the brakes, skidded into the buggy at approx. 55, tossed the driver 50 yards or so and well and truly mangled the horse. Taxpayers paid for the driver's hospital stay, bought him a new buggy and a damned fine horse. My buddy caught a special court marshal, lost 2 stripes (Staff Sgt. to Airman first class in one fell swoop) got reassigned to Civil Engineers.

BTW, those triangle are not all that visible in daylight but you can see one a LONG way off at night.

Funny, here in Ohio I've managed not to run into or over thousands of them.

Because I'm careful....

That said, if they're out at night, which very, very, rare, they do need something back there. Otherwise, leave them alone. Just as YOU, want to be left alone....

"BTW, those triangle are not all that visible in daylight but you can see one a LONG way off at night. " Off topic a bit, retro reflective tape is a GREAT addition to a riding jacket. It comes in lots of colors so you can get creative if you want.

Car vs. bike, car wins every time. My friend Roy had bits of RR tape all over the back of his jacket and people used to see him a long way off. High visibility is where it's at, he said. I believe he's right; he never got hit by a car in forty plus years on two wheels.

You just keep on piling on them Amish. One of these days they're going to finally have enough and then...

Because you know the quiet guy who puts up with the most crap is the LAST guy you want to get mad, and they've been putting up with B.S. for how long?
