Another clueless collectivist demands "Repeal the Right to Keep and Bear Arms." Bless his heart.

"Bless your heart"

1. This is a term used by the people of the southern United States particularly near the Gulf of Mexico to express to someone that they are an idiot without saying such harsh words. -- Urban Dictionary.

Mike Barkley of 167 N. Sheridan Ave., Manteca, CA 95336, has declared himself a "Candidate for Congress," the principle plank of his campaign appears to be "Repeal the Right to Keep and Bear Arms" by amending the Constitution to eliminate the Second Amendment. Barkley describes himself as a "Lawyer/CPA (Inactive)/Computer Programmer/Activist/Liberal Democrat/Moderate Environmentalist/Conservative Law & Order Advocate."

Whew.

I left the poor confused soul this comment:

Well, I would say good luck on your attempt to start another American civil war, but that would be insincere. As one of your fellow American citizens whom you would have to kill to satisfy your tyrannical will, however, I would like to point out that under Clinton's rules of engagement first used against the Serbians in 1999, the intellectuals who provide the propaganda justification for war are legitimate targets of that war. Clinton demonstrated this by sending precision guided munitions into the production facilities of Serbian radio and TV as well as the homes of various politicians. While it is doubtful that, in the event you get the bloody civil war you are soliciting, anyone would waste a $600,000 cruise missile on your sorry collectivist ass, the same is unfortunately probably not true for a precision guided fifty cent bullet from a deer rifle. The Chinese were wise in their oft-repeated caution that you should be careful what you wish for lest you get it. Please rethink your proposal in the light of these inconvenient, yet immutable, truths generated by the Law of Unintended Consequences.

Best wishes,
Mike Vanderboegh
The alleged leader of a merry band of Three Percenters.

And then I added a second comment.

PS: Bless your heart.

Of course, neither comment will likely be posted.

An explication of "Bless your heart."

If the FedGov takes this as a threat and comes after you, do you have a "100 heads" list that we might work on? Or would you prefer that we freelance instead, to avoid compounding your problems?

Best of luck with whatever comes of this.

Well, they did publish the shorter of your 2 comments, which tells me they probably agree with your sentiment.

Repealing the Second Amendment would at least be more legal and honest than letting it stand as a place for our would-be Masters to urinate.

It would still, as you say, begin a civil war or a time of "Troubles" in our nation, but at least it would be out in the open instead of this "we'll-decide-how-much-liberty-you-get-but-look-it's-not-that-bad-you-still-have-the-Second-Amendment" crap.

My answer to all people searching for "reasonable restrictions" on gun ownership is always the same:

Repeal the Second Amendment, or shut up.

That's all there is to it.

Oh yeah, and that other little detail that gun grabbers might have to concern themselves with:

Survive the ensuing civil war.

My $0.02 worth left for Mr. Barkley:

Mr. Barkley,
I would very much like to write you off as a no-account fool with no knowledge of the foundations of the republic we call The United States of America, no knowledge of Blackstone's commentaries, no knowledge of the Declaration of Independence, no knowledge of SCOTUS's ruling in US v. Cruikshank, and no chance of being elected to federal office. But that would fly in the face of California's repeated mistake of sending Sens. Boxer and Feinstein to Washington to act as an affliction on the rest of us.

However, given that we are fast approaching the anniversary of The Battles of Lexington and Concord, it might be to your advantage to review an event that saw 3000 formerly loyal British subjects run, some of them for miles, so as not to miss the chance to fire upon the troops of their own government.

Should you be sucessful in getting both houses of Congress to pass repeal of the Second Amendement, and the state legislatures to ratify that repeal, I will still have my creator given right to keep and bear arms. And should this tyranny you propose to inflict on the American people come to pass, I will still get to vote, one 7.62 NATO round at a time.

That boy is downright SCARY! He also wants to outlaw "right to work" making union membership MANDATORY - if someone wants to work, that is. And much, much more.

Of course he IS from California - the granola capitol of the world - so I suppose we shouldn't be surprised. What I don't understand is why this knucklehead thinks HE'LL be one of the favored few when all his "reforms" are implemented.

I just back yesterday (4/17) from an Appleseed weekend. Didn't earn a rifleman patch but I learned enough that I can practice and hopefully get one some day. Looks more and more like I'm gonna NEED to be a rifleman.
