A perfect waste of good ordnance.

Of course, if I found a "destructive device" in my wall, "Waco Jim" Cavanaugh's pals would have put it there.

Gotta love how the writer calls the device a "missile" in the title and a "bomb" in the text. Which is it?! What is up with "professional journalists" totally botching the details of any weaponry-related topic? Must be the very idea of ordnance makes them so scared that they can't think straight. Someone ought to point the guy to the Wikipedia article for "missile", which has disambiguation guide for the clueless.

"The small green missile, measuring 20 inches long with a 5-inch explosive head and four tail fins"

Hmmm... I seem to remember, dimly, that green means inert. The usual technique for disposal of old ordinance is to detonate it using an external charge. I suspect everybody heard the external charge and the small green missile was an inert round used for loading practice.
