The ORIGINAL gathering place for a merry band of Three Percenters. (As denounced by Bill Clinton on CNN!)
Could that be a Bradley?
It's a Scorpion. UK light recon vehicle.
Mike, it looks like a Scimitar, a British light reconnaissance tank. Same hull, drivetrain and chassis, with a slightly different turret, but with a 30mm Rarden autocannon instead of the 76mm gun on the Scorpion.BoarHawg 3
Yep, it's a Scimitar, see the Wikipedia page:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FV107_ScimitarFrom the Scorpion family, used by UK and (formerly) also Belgium. Whoda thunk all that "shoot/no shoot" crap they stuffed in my 19D head over the years would still be there? ;o)BoarHawg 3
Common who has their copy of Jane's handy? It is not a Warrior either.
Actually, I think it IS a scorp, but with some mods.Pick a section and look from pic to pic. Fender skirts removed, headlights relocated, smoke cans different, but the basic lines seem to match up.DD
The turret looks like an LAV-25 turret dropped into some unknown chassis.
It's a Scimitar LRV.
Further evidence - a pic of the same installation, so labeled...In case my link doesn't work, google IMAGE SEARCH "scimitar tank united nations" and it's in the first few results.HTH!DDhttp://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm1.static.flickr.com/174/427340588_e645c85a31.jpg%3Fv%3D0&imgrefurl=http://flickr.com/photos/39839593%40N00/427340588&usg=__JxJ10a5sLuQySGeOv7R8_0NPWZc=&h=375&w=500&sz=156&hl=en&start=3&um=1&tbnid=55qx02QS_rbN_M:&tbnh=98&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dscimitar%2Btank%2BUNited%2Bnations%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26um%3D1
it a appears to be a variant of a 3D Model Warrior MCV UN, http://www.the3dstudio.com/product_details.aspx?id_product=82213and http://www.army-technology.com/projects/warrior/Ken
Appears to be a Sabre Reconnaissance Vehicle - British. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabre_AFVCould also be a modified Scorpion, hard to tell with the turret mostly in the shadows. Why is it in UN white? Beats me.LM
Puma or a Marder
That is an FV107 Scimitar.http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/fighting-vehicles/1481.aspx
I don't care what it is- but if it's a damned UN vehicle in my yard, it's gonna be a pile of shit.Shy III
It's a Sabre with 30mm RARDEN Cannon. Compare general body shape, esp vents with pic at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sabre_1_Bovington.jpg
Disclaimer: I found this to be an interesting quicky net research topic. Here are my snap shot findings.I at first thought this was a Scorpion derivative (Sabre). The hulls are nearly identical, but the turret looked to be from something else. If you click on the Blog's pic of the UN vehicle, it will open up to full size, and many details become very clear. The cannon is a Rarden 30mm autoloader, installed to replace the 76mm. Wiki says it was used on the FV107 Scimitar tracked reconnaissance vehicle, and the Sabre — FV101 Scorpion. The picture of the Sabre /Scorpion here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabre_(tank)) shows a turret with the same cavity beneath the barrel's base, and the same vertical gussets on the turret, starboard side. The Scimitar is similar.I'm leaning towards the FV 107 Scimitar. While models are not PROOF, here is a 107 model in UN paint.. multiple pictures. http://olivier.carneau.free.fr/kits/europe/scimitar/index_gb.htmThe Sabre has a coaxial chain gun, which doesn't appear in the blog's photo, or in those I've found on the net. The 7.62 coaxial MG is also not on the UN vehicle in the photo, but I see no access for the chain gun. Another pesky detail is the headlights. They are not very common in the photos of the Sabre OR the Scimitar. Here is a real-world pic of a Scimitar in UN paint... http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/europe/scimitar-pics.htmAnd lastly, here is a series of photos of a Scimitar with those funny under-hung headlights... http://www.armyrecognition.com/europe/Angleterre/vehicules_legers/Scimitar/Scimitar_Angleterre_diaporama.htm
Sabre.More good pics at: http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/Quarters/7413/sabre.html
Probably got UN markings in Kosovo.Check out: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIAL/CARS/FEATURES/WHEELSONTHAT/33320.html
From what I can tell, it's a Belgian Spartan ARV. The final drives are wrong on most everyone's recommendations. This one seems correct.http://www.armyrecognition.com/europe/Belgique/vehicules_legers/CVRT/Spartan_ARV/Spartan_ARV_Belgique_diaporama.htm
Its a Sabre... note the angular Fox turret, not the flat sided Scimitar turret. The configuration of the smoke launchers is slightly different, but this could have been a later model or a unit modification/repair.The headlights appear to be from a Fox recon vehicle, again most likely a field repair.LM
Comparing the two pictures, the chassis obviously is a scorpion. The profile of the cammo painted one looks slightly different because the headlights are in a different place and there are baskets extending the square area under the turret forward. You can see the original angled surface through the mesh. The turret has been replaced.
http://www.panzerbaer.de/types/be_fv101-a.htmit's definitely in the CVR(T) FV101 family: scorpion, striker and scimitar.
Why is it in UN white? Beats me.It makes it a better target!
