Here are my snap shot findings.

I at first thought this was a Scorpion derivative (Sabre). The hulls are nearly identical, but the turret looked to be from something else. If you click on the Blog's pic of the UN vehicle, it will open up to full size, and many details become very clear.

The cannon is a Rarden 30mm autoloader, installed to replace the 76mm. Wiki says it was used on the FV107 Scimitar tracked reconnaissance vehicle, and the Sabre — FV101 Scorpion. The picture of the Sabre /Scorpion here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabre_(tank)) shows a turret with the same cavity beneath the barrel's base, and the same vertical gussets on the turret, starboard side. The Scimitar is similar.

I'm leaning towards the FV 107 Scimitar. While models are not PROOF, here is a 107 model in UN paint.. multiple pictures. http://olivier.carneau.free.fr/kits/europe/scimitar/index_gb.htm

The Sabre has a coaxial chain gun, which doesn't appear in the blog's photo, or in those I've found on the net. The 7.62 coaxial MG is also not on the UN vehicle in the photo, but I see no access for the chain gun. Another pesky detail is the headlights. They are not very common in the photos of the Sabre
OR the Scimitar.

Here is a real-world pic of a Scimitar in UN paint... http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/europe/scimitar-pics.htm

And lastly, here is a series of photos of a Scimitar with those funny under-hung headlights... http://www.armyrecognition.com/europe/Angleterre/vehicules_legers/Scimitar/Scimitar_Angleterre_diaporama.htmIII more than themnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7575061201749703300.post-71611834237779578212009-10-12T23:30:51.120-05:002009-10-12T23:30:51.120-05:00It's a Sabre with 30mm RARDEN Cannon.
