Seems like I know a guy who has advocated this from the beginning.
How the West Can Stop Russia's Escalating War in Ukraine
Secondly, the West could deter Russia from constantly transferring military equipment to separatists by compensating Ukraine with defensive weapons deliveries. The Kremlin might lose its eagerness to provide separatists with new battle tanks and APCs if it knew that Kyiv would get an appropriate amount of Javelins to neutralize them. Western counter-battery radars could become a good answer for Russia's supplies of artillery systems. And so on, until Moscow understands that its military transfers are useless.
Javelin export is way trickier than it sounds. Like their AAA brethren the Stinger, they have a shelf life, and must be maintained while in storage. Also, their imaging units have to be strictly export controlled because they can be re-purposed, and copied. Fun factoid, high-end scientific imaging sensors are weapons sensors that failed QC. And THOSE are end-user licensed out the rear end.
Allowing a war to happen, might be a required move on the big chess board. Then again having a sack is required to intervene or stop one.
People seem to have forgotten that Ukraine used to have nuclear weapons and gave them up in exchange for the guarantee of security from exactly what Russia is doing right now.
Frankly, transferring conventional weapons, even "strictly export controlled" ones, is a pretty tame measure compared to nuking Moscow over this, which would be completely legally justified (if rather stupid).
But the fact that this might actually help is reason enough for the Obama regime to not do it.
I'm on Russia;s side here. The ousting of a elected president in Ukaine by Europe and the cia has caused the eastern Ukraine citizenry to call for a referendum wherein they voted to secede from Ukaine and maintain close ties to their hereditary Russian brothers. Thus we have the DPR and LPR. And they want to stay free of Ukraine and its cia/eu overlords. Why is it not right for the people of Donetsk to vote for their own freedom and secede from a insurrectionist Ukraine when the islamic republic of Kosovo was carved out of Serbia by much the same means, enforced to this day by NATO and US troops?
Regardless, both Ukraine and Russia have concentrated armor and troops along their respective borders encompassing DPR and LPR and the s may well htf there soon. China has moved armor and troops to its border with North Korea. North Korea has massed even more arty and troops at the border with South Korea. Isis still murdering away in Iraq, Astan, and Syria with millions thrown from their homes or dead. World stock markets reeling from utter chaos. Everything's fine.
Davey Crockett's Tactical N.W.H.,63 lbs. Are the way to go. Many of them just, sort of disappeared . During the Cold War in the F.R.O.G. Behind enemy lines. In Unconstitutional, collectivist ,Ct. I will not comply. Nor stand down. AAA/O. 11B20.
Maybe we should try living up to the Reagan-Gorbachev agreements at the end of the last cold war and not expand NATO eastward into Russia's natural, historic sphere of influence. All we are doing is proving that Soviet propaganda was, at least in part, correct.
The more time goes on, the more I agree with Smedly Butler.
Mike, if what is occurring over there between the Ukraine and Russia was occurring when most Americans had some faith in their government, then I would applaud that suggestion re: those surface to air missiles.
But what is occurring now is not the same as it once was when Russia was communist and America was rabidly anti-communist. Putin is a dictator who is also one smart SOB that no one within the current American or European administrations is able to get a handle on, let alone face down.
Giving Ukraine access to those missiles would escalate an already touchy situation that Germany, in particular, is most apprehensive of. The West has been shown to be the aggressor in that area of insane brinkmanship to the point where even that arch One World Government devotee, Kissinger, is now openly warning the West to stop backing the Ukraine and to leave Russia alone.
Here's a cheery mindset over in Russia;
Let's follow George Washingtons advice....oh wait...to late. Those psychos in Wash DC will get us all killed.
But first the West would have to give a dang about the Ukraine. All the expressed outrage is fake, other things are at play wrt Russia. My belief is if someone wants to go help the Ukraine, then go do it. Don't involve me or a broke/bankrupt/corrupt government that I am forced to help support. The Ukraine was a totally corrupt basket case before the Russians moved in-- the Russian corruption may have even been an upgrade, it was that bad. Not worth a single American life or one thin dime to try to "fix," which is impossible.
