“What good is it for citizens to have guns when the government has tanks?”

As long as the American public outguns the military—and they do by more than 90 million firearms—no sane government would dare turn on the American people.
Also, Bob Owens comments on NJ: Congratulations, New Jersey! You lose another five rounds in your magazines… but they’ll let you stop to pee.

what good is it for citizens to have guns when the government has tanks? ... they are not always in their tanks.

Funny, was behind enemy lines yesterday at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting in NYC--and over lunch there was a protracted hand wringing over the plight of the Ukrainian protesters, how awful the government brutality was. First thought was to bring up fact that the citizens there are largely disarmed, but that a few good riflemen would likely put the cops to flight (none seemed very enthused about their jobs in the footage I've seen). Thought the better of it--the odds, rather like Custer, would have left me as little more than a rhetorical greasy spot on the rug. But in the working sessions, clear that most of the adherents to this collectivist culture have simply lost the ability to conceive of individual rights, self defense and self determination. There are a few that have not, but not many.

The shorter answer is that OFA brownshirt recruits will not be so eager to kick down the doors of ordinary Americans if there's even a shadow of a chance that one or more of their "community organizing" crew will be going home in a bodybag.

Bringing Bill Ayers's dream of reeducation camps to fruition will take a lot more manpower than is available as police and military.

Besides the Nazi S.A. already referenced, I saw a heartbreaking interview of a Cambodian survivor of Pol Pot's killing fields when I was in high school (I have not been able to find the film or even references to it since--it may have been from French TV). The man lost his entire extended family to the commies.

The kicker is that the gang of Khmer Rouge that took him to the camps was led by a punkass kid from the neighborhood who had been a troublemaker his whole life until he was either jailed or sent away shortly before.

Tanks aren't a problem, its their 120mm HEAT APFSDS rounds!

Heyyyy ohhhhh!

All this is assuming the US military would agree to wage war against its own countrymen. A more likely scenario would be the various ABC agencies of the federal government perpetrating it.

Off topic: San Diego won't appeal Peruta!

So, that much is done. "self defence" is "good cause" for CCW throughout the 9th circuit. Now, of course, the sheriffs can play games with "good moral character". That is pretty much a blank check for the sheriff until we get a ruling on Richards v. Prieto. These days, GMC means whatever the sheriff decides it means. The original Jim Crow era meaning in California was "Not Black, Hispanic, or Oriental.", which I hope contributes to the death of GMC.

But this government is clearly insane. Look at what they are doing to the value of the dollar, once the envy of the world. (Lenin destroyed the value of the ruble to ruin the middle class and make everyone equally poor, except the Bolshevik elite, of course.)

So absurd even the Brits are writing about it.

The thin blue line strikes again.

I'm surprised nobody had tied the FCC garbage garbage today and the reaction by journalists to,well, our cause.

Really, the FCC was just acting like the ATF. And journalists screamed CONSTITUTION and FIRST AMENDMENT!!! Ok as well they should, and they are correct. Greta on Fox especially!!
If only Greta would say that se thing about the ATF.

I wonder of journalists caught on to how fast they defended the First Amendment....... Set up -all of them are- set up now for blatant hypocritical musings.

It is absurd to think that any military General would choose suicide by citizen, when they can easily take down a government.

Anon 1201, i refer people to "What Good is a Handgun Against an Army?" by Mike Vanderboegh.

Anon 1344, "Remember the Alamo!" Fewer than 200 men held off over 4,000 for nearly two weeks. For some reason, that Spartan/Persian thing overshadows that in the minds of most, but the principles are the same, a large force threatening a much smaller force to try to disarm them.

What's most telling to me is the courage shown by the defenders in the face of certain death.

Tanks, hmmm. I recall that sewers are fortified and offer openings (drainage ports, man holes) to attach charges. Apc type vehicles and tanks are susceptible to attacks by fire- gets hot in there, blocks vision, creates smoke etc. Read everything by H John Poole, study the manuals, available free online (mostly)

I don't know how many governments I have sen overthrown in the past forty years. Anyone who asks that question just isn't living in the real world.
