The Would-Be Emperor Obama messes with compensation for the legions.

"President Obama wants to consider sweeping changes to the military’s retirement and compensation system, but he also said that all current troops should be grandfathered under the current retirement plan if they choose." Right, kinda like the promises given about Obamacare, right?

Cool. We'll have an Army of lightly-experienced short-timers.

Until the inevitable stop-loss orders start.

Stop-loss: you can't get paid what you are worth, and you can't quit. You also don't know when your "contract" expires, because it might not. If you seem to be "trouble", you will be sent on an unsupported "disposal" mission where you are likely to accomplish nothing and come back in a bag.

Welcome to your glorious Brave New Corporately-controlled Empire, Soldier-Slave. Every meal a feast and every paycheck a small fortune, if you live. I say we dust off and nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Oh, there is no funding for training, little funding for range time, and Colonels seem to primarily to exist to fund their private golf courses on MWR funds.

A middle-aged professionally-trained "lone wolf" will be able to wreak havok, and very few career NCO's will exist (or care) to say different. Chris Dorner x 2M, but without the easy ID and "manifesto". The damage will mostly be done by scared and loose empire forces.
