Darrell Issa's statement on the SOPA protests.

Just received this via email:
WASHINGTON, DC – House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) today issued the following statement on the blackouts of many popular websites – including Wikipedia, Craigslist, Google and thousands of others– in response to the serious threats to an open Internet and digital innovation in America posed by the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA):
“The Protect IP Act and SOPA are threats to the openness, freedom, and innovation of the Internet. I applaud the Internet community, including the thousands of blogs and websites that have decided to go dark today, for participating in our democracy and opening up the debate on legislation to the public.
“This unprecedented effort has turned the tide against a backroom lobbying effort by interests that aren’t use to being told ‘no.’ I know suspending and changing access to sites was not necessarily an easy decision, but this a responsible and transparent exercise of freedom of speech. I applaud those participating in today’s protest for their sturdy defense of American innovation, openness and Internet freedom.”
The Oversight Committee had originally scheduled a hearing on DNS blocking for today. The hearing was postponed after assurances from Leader Cantor and the removal of DNS blocking provisions from SOPA were made. Even with this alteration, Chairman Issa continues to oppose SOPA as well as PIPA.

Removed the offensive provisions, did he?

Well, the bill can always be amended latter, right? Lets get the basic form down and pour in the concrete later...

No man's life or property is safe while the legislature is in session.

Sorry Congressman Issa not good enough, what would have been your feelings if Google, Bing, and Yahoo would have directly supported the protest?

YES!! A plan in action. With both the websites shutting down AND Congressman Issa giving his stamp of approval - it puts the Libturds on notice, the line has been drawn, cross it at your peril.

While the media's attention is focused on SOPA, the regressive controlled Senate is pushing an even worse bill called PIPA down the throats of Americans (watch the other hand). PIPA would allow the government to block American as well as foreign websites.

I follow both Left and Righ blogospheres. Believe me, they're just as pissed off over on the left as y'all are about SOPA. In fact, anyone who understands it and isn't in the CorpGov circle is pissed. NEVER let the government have any power that you wouldn't want your worst enemy to have access to- Because after the next electoral silly season, he may!

Don't let this #%*¥ing camel's nose in the door AT ALL!

This country has survived many wars some great, some small. They go on till this day with no end in sight. Millions of bullets-bombs-cannon balls or you name it.Hundreds of thousands of dead on battlefields in every corner of the world....Strange, that in the last three years we have seen it all nullified by the left handed pen of a tin pot wannabe fascist dictator. Our representation in Washington has become a cruel mocking joke. The despots know that in order to complete their fascist agenda they must stop the free flow of uncensored information. This they will attempt just for appearances sake through the charade of a Congressional vote .If that miraculously fails then a "Decree will go out from Caesar Obama" and to hell with you, we want it,and its law. Make no mistake about it there is a day of reckoning coming in this country. When it does I believe it is going to be a horrifying awakening for those who would declare themselves" Kings and Lords"of America.

I guess the 1st amendment no longer will exist for me at least, or people, otherwise known as traditional Americans, who once had the expectation of freedom for all and being left alone.

The government and it's people have decided they don't like the consitution.
