Praxis: Garand Grab and Go.

Trying to find a USGI surplus Garand belt these days is tough and getting tougher.
Reproduction belts like the one below are available, but for a pretty price.
Now here's a piece of gear from Olongapo Outfitters.
Olongapo Outfitters rig for Garand. It ain't cheap but looks like it may be worth it.
The product description is as follows: 8" in height by 14 1/2" wide, this "grab and go" rig holds 12 en bloc clips -- one clip per pouch. The pouch flaps are double-thickness, 2" wide nylon webbing, with pull tabs sewn in. It is made out of 1000d Cordura, with a rear map pouch. The map pouch has two drain holes.
Here is a link to a Brownells video that covers similar rigs.

Very cool. Thank you sir, I've been trying to find some local (Fort Hood with about 1000 surplus shops) with no luck.

May I suggest and equally impressive page that has a great "on the cheap" bandolier: http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2009/01/praxis-home-made-bandoleers.html

There is no doubt that those "high speed, low drag" beauties would be great to own and use. However, a dozen custom apron/canvas, made to order jobbies would more than fill the bill.

So there is at least one thing J. Stalin and I agree on; "quantity has a quality all of it's own."

Cheers,

Jerry makes good stuff. I've got his Garand chest rig and buttstock pouch along with some M1A chest rigs.

for construction and size, it looks like a harness for the old 100 (or older 80 rnd) paintball tubes. Not only might your readers find similar in used paintball gear, there are different configurations of # of pouches and location (front, rear, or side) and orientation (open upward or downward, sideways and which side opens) depending on where you might need to reload (prone is hard to reach a front mount, side mount makes you wider to get through brush, and rear mount interferes with other gear such as backpacks as well as people with range of motion problems might not be able to use. Try whatever you might commit to.

Garand pockets look nice, but this is a lot nicer in my opinion. It aint cheap but it will carry 24 - 8 round clips comfortably.

you will need to scroll down a bit to the Garand.

One per pouch probably means their too narrow for 5 round strippers.

Numrich has some great prices on Repro M-1 Garand belts. I use them for .303 and 7.62x54R clips also. They had a good deal on 3/$55 or so.

quitaFWIW - I bought a bunch of bandos from a company in Michigan(Michigan Supply something, I think). Anyhow these were designed for either .308 mags or 223 mags, BUT I discovered that you could put two Garand clips in each pocket of the .308 version(14 clips). Best of all the cost was something like $15.00 a in units of three.

I have two of M-1 48 rd ammo pouches from FMCO and like them. Easy to use and mount on the LBE just like the M-16 Ammo pouch

I'll stick to my O.D. Bandoleers, circa Korea. They weigh only a few ounces and four of them carry 192 rounds. I've got a lot of them. Lock and Load.
