Netanyahu, IDF high command tout new German-made submarine

Netanyahu said there was an “ironclad law” in the Middle East, that weak countries have difficulty surviving, but a strong country “is a able to repel its threats and ensure its security and future.” The new submarine is Israel's fifth Dolphin-class submarine. Israel's submarines are reportedly armed with nuclear missiles that – if the reports are accurate – would give the country a strategic second strike capability. The INS Rahav is the most expensive weaponry ever purchased by Israel, and is considered a “force multiplier” that will allow Israel to cope with the regional threats.

Now there's some serious irony for you to consider. The Jewish state purchasing and employing German submarines for the protection of their homeland. Cool.

Bravo for Israel ! Of course, the use of such weapons was made exponentially more likely by the treaty that Obumble signed with Iran's mullas. I pray that it will never have to be used, but better safe than sorry...

Just to clarify: Israel did not "purchase" that submarine. It was given to them by the German gov't. Israel has never paid for any of the incredibly expensive military hardware it has.
Not from Germany, not from the UK, and certainly not from the US. It has never spent a single dime.... not of its own money, of course.

tom stedham,

think of it as an extended field-test in real-world combat conditions and we're actually getting a pretty good bargain for our money. I know people that are walking around right now because of the bar armor we put on marine amtracks..tested, perfected, and used by the Israelis. stuff stopped an RPG that would have turned those aluminum cans into marine coffins.

There is no power on that expensive sub when its nuke missiles WOULD be pointed AT the Arabs, because they are already suicidal and BEG for Israel to attack them.

Oh no, those nukes are guaranteed BLACKMAIL pointed at the countries who paid for it to start with to make sure that they continue to toe the Israeli agenda. you know you have spoken the truth when you find out who you CANNOT criticize and how viciously you are attacked for it.

Can the Secret Service stop a sub based missile?

If the Israelis ever decide to resort to actual nuclear blackmail, they won't use submarines.

That 'if' is a lot smaller than it once was, so I won't presume to say it would be stupid for them to even have actual nukes on those subs rather than just maintaining strategic uncertainty. But they don't need an actual submarine launch capability, just the credible/deniable threat of one. That might be easiest to achieve by giving some actual nukes a submarine ride.

But its easier to make pretend nukes appear/disappear in a way that doesn't reveal where your actual nukes are.
