Nobody should be seriously using facebook as a social networking site. Treating it as a contestable information battle-space makes far more sense. To reach people on facebook, it makes sense to act friendly as you can without forgetting that it's basically an NSA data-harvesting tool open to all other unconstitutional regulatory and enforcement agents at whim.
Facebook is far too annoying to far too many users to succeed as it has without some level of government subsidies, including in the form of high-regulatory burdens and media-smearing being imposed on potential competitors.
