Defying Evil: Albert Camus and His Century

“None of the evils that totalitarianism claims to cure is worse than totalitarianism itself.”
There were several Camus titles on the reading list that Dr. Richter left for me, but I am ashamed to say that I cannot with certainly recall them all. The Rebel was there, certainly, and The Plague, and I'm pretty sure The Myth of Sisyphus, but other than that . . . Of all the losses in the disorder, financial and otherwise, following my divorce from the Wicked Witch of The North and my relocation to Alabama, Dr. Richter's list (which was tucked inside his gift of the first English language edition of The Road to Serfdom) seems to me to be the unkindest cut of all. I will try to reconstruct it some day soon.

VPC goes to bizarre lengths to establish link between NRA, gun industry

So Sugarmann is both an NRA member and a licensed member of the gun retail industry (or at least was)? I know he has a great deal invested in this notional link between the NRA and the gun industry, but that's going a little far, don't you think?
Sugarmann is the guy who invented the term "assault weapon" so as to better sell the idea of citizen disarmament. He is a contemptible classic collectivist perverter of language to serve the party line. As I confessed back in the early days of this blog, in a comment on liberals fantasizing about Barack Obama in their sleep.
I've never had an erotic dream about a President or a First Lady. Never.
I did once, back in the Nineties, dream that I was on a Georgetown street, watching Josh Sugarmann (he who wrote the Brady Bill and AWB) being beaten to death by six or seven guys with tire irons and baseball bats. All the while they were chanting (a la "What's the frequency, Kenneth?") "No guns were used in your murder. No guns were used in your murder." I left when his head exploded like a melon.
Weird, huh? Must have been the jalapenos.

"What can I do other than die under a hail of bullets for resisting disarmament if it comes to that?"

Reacting to Bob Wright's earlier post on seriousness of purpose, a reader contacted Bob with this question:
Mr. Wright,
Your time is valuable, and although you don't know me from Adam, your insight and wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I'm just a soft around the middle individualist. I don't profess to lead men or wallow around in the mud playing Rambo, but I'm dedicated to the cause of freedom from government tyranny. I wouldn't make a good troop soldier; I've had one hip replaced, and the other is slowly failing. I struggle to carry my four year old son from one room to another when he wants a tiny bit of coddling. What can I do other than die under a hail of bullets for resisting disarmament if it comes to that?
Bob responded:
Mr. REDACTED:
I am pleased to answer your communication. I recognize that the communication Mike posted is a chastisement of a group for failing to train properly( one of my most common rants) I will tell you now it will take at least 5 non-fighters to every fighter to have a hope of actually resisting. Every skill under the sun will be needed.
Not knowing your history or background I cannot map a specific course for you to take, perhaps I can encourage you to leave behind any misgivings about your inability to carry a rifle making you unfit for important, possibly essential service, in the cause of freedom and Liberty. As we mount an effective resistance, carrying a rifle will be one of the easier things to do. The dedicated and relentless efforts of the non fighters in support of the fighters will be the single greatest determiner of our success or failure.
Look at any Army anywhere, you will find a 5 to 20 support to fighter ratio exists. Without them the Army dies. So it would make an interesting after dinner conversation as to which group actually wins the wars that Army will fight.
There is a place for every skill set in the resistance. We will need welders, fabricators, mechanics, medics, heavy equipment operators, clerks, carpenters, electricians, computer apps people, teachers, communicators, writers, photographers, historians, dentists, cartage specialists, packaging distribution specialists, Energy specialists, propagandists, safe houses, local guides, engineers of the chemical, electrical, and mechanical varieties, logistics specialists of all kinds and lets not forget fundraising specialists to help fund it all. I am asking that you find your specialty, that which you can do and can contribute and make it work to support the resistance. If we could get a good representation of the above skill sets all working with common goals and coordinated direction we could not lose.
And just for the record I do not "wallow around in the mud playing Rambo", I work very hard to try to give real life training that will increase the trainees chance of surviving his encounter with the evil ones.
God Bless you sir and if you determine just what the skill set is you can contribute let me know and I will see if I can put you to work.
PS: Have talked with Mike V and shared our exchange He would like to post it on the blog . . . if that would be ok with you. Please advise.
Bob Wright.

Is CNN ‘Expert’ Complicit in the Trentadue Murder Cover-up?

Yup.

"For him to say that he thinks that he can take our rights away is to say that he's God, and until he gets promoted as some sort of divinity, he doesn't have that right."

NY Gun Rights Activists: Gov. Cuomo is "Not God"
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s popularity is on the same track as the president’s. With 56 percent of voters giving Cuomo a negative job approval rating, according to a Siena College poll, which is eight percentage points down from October, he’s having a hard time finding friends these days. Much of the disenchantment, it seems, is due to his push for gun control and the controversial SAFE Act Cuomo hurried into law in January after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
Okay, so he's certainly not God. A pagan demi-god, maybe? Just when he looks in the mirror?

The propagation and weaponization of an idea.

This was forwarded to me and I have absolutely no idea where it came from, but it does show the power of the Three Percent idea as well as validation of the Fourth Generation Warfare concept of the propagation and weaponization of an idea.

Bob Wright on seriousness of purpose.

Bob Wright, my long-time friend and fellow freedom fighter has trained a lot of militia folks over the years, including some whose seriousness of purpose was somewhat lacking. There is now a renewed sense of urgency for training and Bob continues to get requests for help, including from some of the same groups who failed the seriousness of purpose test before. As I understand it, one such request came with an implied challenge as to whether Bob had retired from the training cadre business. It was probably not the most politic way to ask for Bob's help. He writes:
Below is part of a response I sent to the leader of a group who we attempted to train some years ago. It may interest your readers.
So If this communiqué is meant to give me a nudge I will say this. I remain loyal to the cause as I always have. I am prepared to give to those, who are willing to receive I, all that I can. But I am through dealing with or tolerating those who have wasted decades of valuable time, hundreds of thousands of volunteers who have been disillusioned with the foolishness and who have encouraged the waste of millions of freedom dollars on gadgets, videos, overpriced weapons and field gear in the foolish belief that this tape, this weekend of talk or this neat-o piece of equipment has in ANY way prepared you for hell that is descending upon us.
To unite we must submit to the idea of unity. Think what that statement means.....We must SUBMIT to the idea of unity. But too many of us would rather self righteously watch the Republic die rather than submit ourselves to anything but our own delusions.
Are you and your group ready to do this??? We must be willing to follow as well as lead. I read the blogs with all of the key board commandos regurgitating Sun Tzu, Mao, and Red Dawn and whatever the paid keyboard commando at the gun magazine has to say. I am one of a handful of men in the country today who has actually led hundreds of men, armed, in real world missions, in real world hostile territory and maintained their ability to function, and operate.
Think about what that means. That is providing places to camp, logistical needs, medical considerations, training scheduling, DISCIPLINE, conflict resolution, delegation of authority to subordinates, communications, accountability of property, mapping , recon, operational security, POL stores, generation of electricity, vehicle maintenance, recovery and repair, housing, public affairs, medic, clerk, intelligence analyst, counselor and sometime cook.
People who are serious need not follow me specifically but MUST come to know that those mundane things mentioned above are critical to the success of any attempt to resist this tyranny. It is not optional. These skills and infrastructure have to be or WE LOSE! You must be able to move groups of men with skill and discipline. Where can you go pay someone to train you for this??? You must KNOW the capability of your team to move at night. How do you come to know this??? Read another out of date FM? Watch Platoon again?? How?
When you commit your people to action you must make sure that the action proposed is within their capabilities. But if you have not done the hard, repetitious, hot, dirty ass-in-the-grass training required how will you know what your peoples' capabilities are???? Who is willing to submit to that curriculum? Who is willing to subordinate his Soldier of Fiction fantasy of being a "Sniper” and learn to lead a squad????.
Who’s willing to spend countless hours pounding out good soldiers and good leaders?? Your own group was unable to stay focused a whole day. None wanted to perfect skills that will keep you alive. Give me the short version and move on to something fun, right? Sorry. That will just get you dead and I won’t have that on my conscience.

"She died a warrior's death, not an anonymous death as a nameless, faceless victim." Gun Control, the Jews, and the Third Reich

Jews, who should look at the Battle of the Warsaw Ghetto and understand the value of resistance for the sake of preserving the dignity of the human spirit, are all too prone to utter the fatalistic Yiddish adage that translates as -- if it comes to this, nothing will help. In other words, when I will need a gun it will not do any good. Such sentiments, in the light of Jewish history, are appalling, as are the attitudes that liberal Jews generally bring to the gun control debate. I am reminded of my great aunt Sifra, who stood nearly six feet tall and fought with the Bielski partisans. She died fighting; it was a noble death. She died a warrior's death, not an anonymous death as a nameless, faceless victim. That is what separates a hero from a victim. That is the difference a gun makes.

That old Mandate of Heaven thing is about to fall on King Barack's narrow ass (and oversized ego)...

And you thought people were pissed off now? Second wave of health plan cancellations looms.
A new and independent analysis of ObamaCare warns of a ticking time bomb, predicting a second wave of 50 million to 100 million insurance policy cancellations next fall -- right before the mid-term elections.
The next round of cancellations and premium hikes is expected to hit employees, particularly of small businesses. While the administration has tried to downplay the cancellation notices hitting policyholders on the individual market by noting they represent a relatively small fraction of the population, the swath of people who will be affected by the shakeup in employer-sponsored coverage will be much broader.

'Trayvon's Amendment' would be funnier if not for the people who like the idea

Whoever came up with "Trayvon's Amendment" did a nice job--funny stuff. It would be even funnier, though, if we didn't know that a not insignificant percentage of the population is reading those 12 provisions and thinking, "Say--that's a good idea." If that number grows large enough, we will have to kill many of them to keep at least part of this abomination from becoming reality. And that's not funny.
