The ORIGINAL gathering place for a merry band of Three Percenters. (As denounced by Bill Clinton on CNN!)
This reminds me of an old joke: What did atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair say as she came face-to-face with God immediately after her murder by one of her own followers?
I'm an athiest, and Pro-Gun . Here's a better one:Q.Did you hear about the Dyslexic Athiest?A. He does'nt believe there is a Dog!;)-Dan in Ohio.
Had a sensitive job in cryptography in WWII.Defected to the Soviet Union. The Soviets threw her out. (or sent her back here to keep spying on us)Need I say more? She and her children traveled by ship to Europe, planning on defecting to the Soviet embassy in Paris and residing in the Soviet Union, due to that nation's promotion of state atheism. However, the USSR denied them entry. Murray and her sons returned to Baltimore, Maryland in 1960.
From the article:"Orianna O'Neill, 21, a student at Beloit College in Wisconsin who comes from a non-religious household but sometimes prays, said she thinks the anti-science, anti-gay rhetoric of some politicians may be turning some young people away from religion."" "The idea of Republicans not believing in global warming is contributing to the notion that religious people are not intelligent," O'Neill said."No further comment necessary, but I can't resist: She uncritically believes in junk science, the normality of gay behavior, thinks God is an iffy proposition and that anyone not sharing those beliefs is "unintelligent."This is what billions of dollars and .gov interference in education produces.
She deserved what she got in the end...
There is morality, there is no right or wrong. "Hey, let's murder the old bag"
A big problem comes down to the baggage of dogma and established religion. People who do survive near, or damned near complete death experience have to contend with that if they decide to share the experience. If I said my experience had a very tiny aspect of the old chinese afterlife involved in it, but mainly, that you were swimming in an 8space sea of information, learned how god plays dice with the universe, because in this way the quantum "dice" are self stabilizing random bounded functions(making meddling in this amazingly less involved since no need to tie up infinite loose ends), and that if you had failings, you would realize every minute detail of how these failings made you a screwup, a mockery of all creation, etc, or that you were a generally good person, and didn't mess up too horribly(rare) and such was essentially heaven/hell/purgatory/etc, well.....The average religious person's head would explode, and then they would rant, rave, beat you with a bible, and ignore everything you said. :D A simpler way might be a variation of Pascal's wager, if there is an afterlife, and you generally only take with you what you learned in life, how you cultivated you soul, relationships, etc, and everything you did was tainted, you'll essentially be living in the "you" that is a toxic waste heap, there to wallow in the wastes of your own soul for eternity. So, probably not a good thing to live the life of a toxic monster. Or maybe you'll get "lucky", your soul will be stripped and debrided of the malignant tissues, patched up, and put back into circulation. Possibly as an armadillo, coyote, nutria rat, etc. lol! Other than that, most dogma is a wasted effort. Sure, there is the cultural metaphors, values, and generally just interesting stories to fight the boredom. Beyond that though, nothing anyone can tell you in life is going to prepare you for what you experience. Sort of like going from egg to chicken to hyperspace. The average atheist/mechanist, most of em just don't wanna deal with the religious crazies anymore, and the people who turn preparing for the afterlife into a full time job. Pretty sure when you get to the other side, nobody is gonna care if you have memorized Luke 3:15, avoided shellfish all your life, or avoided clothing made from two different kinds of fibers or not. ;P So, live life, enjoy it, try not to be a total jackass, and when you get to the afterlife, be ready for a wild ride. :D No angels with birdwings or harps though, too bad!
"Orianna O'Neill, 21, a student at Beloit College in Wisconsin who comes from a non-religious household but sometimes prays, said she thinks the anti-science, anti-gay rhetoric of some politicians may be turning some young people away from religion.""The idea of Republicans not believing in global warming is contributing to the notion that religious people are not intelligent," O'Neill said."----------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Liberalism Is What Smart Looks Like to Stupid People"----------------------------------------------------------------------------------11/4/15"A team of European researchers have unveiled a scientific model showing that the Earth is likely to experience a “mini ice age” from 2030 to 2040 as a result of decreased solar activity."
The greatest folly of Man is to convince himself that there is no God and so therefore, no higher authority that he is answerable to.
People are not becoming less faithful. They are simply becoming more protective of their own information, less likely to tell strangers about their business. It is the same as guns. To listen to the lefties, less people have guns now because their own "polls" say so. This despite record number of guns sold year after year and month after month.
I don't believe anyone really determined to not acknowledge God will ever enter into His presence. That's kinda the whole mechanic behind, "And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life."To be in the presence of God is to be see the truth behind all things, and if you don't absolutely love God more than anything else, the revelation of your fallen state in comparison would drive you out of your mind. So how closely one can approach God is necessarily limited by the ability to endure the light and truth that emanates from His presence. Those who utterly reject God will not say, "Oops". They will see exactly what they are willing to see, and nothing more...forever.
As for O'Hair, she found out one thing for sure - that God has one hell of an intense sense of humor; and it's not one I'd want to be on the wrong side of..
I'd cheerfully dissemble to a pollster about guns, but when it comes to faith matters, I'm no durn Jesuit. Prevarication is not in my playbook. I believe, and I will bear witness when witness is warranted.
