As if the ban ever really ended. Given the fact that DC continues to make it almost impossible to defend yourself (in violation of court orders) that is highly debatable.

"Half of D.C. residents want a return to citywide gun ban, poll finds."

So, a ban is popular among "white residents" who are higher earners or live in the city 4 years or less. That sounds like all the toadies working in D.C. bureaucracies to me...And unpopular among the everyday guy who has to fend for himself in a city full of criminals. Note to all criminals and jihadi assholes: please hit the first group, as they are probably unarmed anyway and are a pain in everyone's ass..

So let them ban them if that's what they want! I have no problem with any place saying no. That said, when isis comes calling don't bitch when the cops show up much latter with, the chalk and report forms. If stupid people want to be stupid that's their right, whoever I will still pass thru their B/C district armed, and should I be there when shit happens I'll be sure to cover my own an no one else. Never thought I'd see the day when I could watch folks fall from bad guys and allow it to happen, but times change. I'm tired of dicking with stupid and if they don't what to defend their self's why should I? But know this, I will defend myself and those with me from all aggressors no matter their, flavor or "WHO" they work for.

"D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) and Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier have blamed the flow of illegal guns into the city and violent repeat offenders for a large share of the city’s rising homicide tally this year."

One wonders how the Mayor and Chief would feel about a citywide ban on "violent repeat offenders".

Now, obviously the "violent repeat offenders" shouldn't be voting, but their families and associates do. One can only wonder which party they tend to vote for.

I can hear it now, "I raised my son to be a good boy! He makes a few mistakes and now some sombitch wants to lock him up for life? Never voting for that sombitch's party again!"

DC tends to run 92-93% democrat in every election. The news here is that even in the democrat stronghold of strongholds 47% are in favor of an armed populace.

Lets face it: Probably more than 50% of the long-term residents of DC (i.e. not the political visitors) are already federally disbarred from owning (legal) firearms. So, they don't want their victim/targets to have them either.

Can you say "tyranny of the majority"?
It does not matter what the poll indicated. Unconstitutional is unconstitutional regardless whether the majority agrees or not.

It doesn't matter what 50%, or 75%, or 99.99% of residents want. That's the beauty of the concept of "unalienable" rights-- No one can vote other people's rights out of existence. Get it? -- Lyle
