A List for the Historically Amnesiac and Culturally Ignorant.
"Top 10 Iconic Movie Guns."
This list is for people whose knowledge of history and film goes back as far as yesterday's breakfast. I would rather suggest the following as "Iconic" (in no particular order) --
Full Auto Competitors:
Gary Cooper's Lewis Gun in For Whom the Bell Tolls.
William Holden's M1917 in The Wild Bunch.
Robert Taylor's Vickers gun in Bataan.

Audie Murphy's Ma Deuce in To Hell and Back.
Al Pacino's "Leetle Fren" in Scarface.
Edward G. Robinson's Thompson in Little Caesar.
Steve McQueen's BAR in The Sand Pebbles.
Rifles:
Gary Cooper's 1903 Springfield in Sergeant York.
Tom Selleck's Sharps in Quigley Down Under.
John Wayne's Winchester carbine in Stagecoach.
Jimmy Stewart's "Winchester '73."
Daniel Day Lewis' flintlock rifle in Last of the Mohicans.

Any M1911 .45 in every Bogart movie ever made.

Full auto nomination: Mini-gun in several Schwartzenegger movies.
You did say "guns" yes? In the spirit of "go big or go home" I nominate:
1. The real stars of "The Guns of Navarone" which may have been patterned after one of Krupp's larger pieces.
2. The cannon in The Pride and the Passion which was on display in St. Augustine, FL in the days of my youth.
Barry Pepper's 1903A4 in Saving Private Ryan
Jude Law's 91/30, which gets tons of screen time, in Enemy At the Gates
You got it covered pretty good Mike!
How many of those "hollywood" guns were fictitious?
Jeff Cooper's own design, The Bren 10
carried by Don Johnson in "Miami Vice"

Handgun:
Dirty Harry's S&W Model 29 (portrayed using a Model 57 41 Mag due to inflated demand making the 29 too scarce; if that ain't irony)
Smith and Wesson Model 29 - Clint Eastwood - Dirty Harry.
-Blake
How about Josey Wales' Colt Dragoons? Or his rifle? Or Joe Kidd's rifle, with adjustable sights? (These are Clint Eastwood movies.)
How about the Colt Single Action Army, THE iconic gun of Westerns?
American Sniper....the movie.
Mel Gibson sawed off shot gun in road warrior
Mel Gibson M9 in Lethal Weapon
The bad guy's Steyr AUG in the first Die Hard
Pity they never show poor old Sgt. York with his correct rifle... A Model 1917.
OTOH, it keeps the prices down so I can afford 'em!
I have been fortunate enough to have seen all of those movies except Sean Beans'. Great post, however shame on the elites for keeping many of these out of our reach.....
Ray in Toombs
Handgun:
Smith & Wesson 29 (actual, or as depicted by Dirty Harry with S&W Model 57 due to market demand making 29s scarce - talk about irony and history repeating itself)
James Bond - Walther PPK
Wayne's Gatling gun in Rooster Cogburn.
I shall add another: the M1 Garand of "Combat!"
Dirty harry's S&W model 29 .44
and for historical accuracy per Army records Alvin York was issued a Enfield
Viet Nam - Puff the Magic Dragon. Full Metal Jacket etc.. Behind enemy lines.
Burt Gummer's twin .50 in "Tremors". What fun.
James Bond's PPK.
How about a Street Howitzer division? My nominee would be a 10 gauge coach gun, used by Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp in Tombstone.
I must admit I thought of that one after thinking of my favorite one used by Marshal Micah Torrance in North Fork. Like Dan Maury (Lee Van Cleef) said, “That would have blown a big hole in me, wouldn't it?"
But it didn't qualify because that was television.
I liked the 'Clandestine pistol' - maybe 25ACP? kit gun from Gorky Park.
Wonderful list!
Bogie was also very partial to the 1908 Colt .380 on many occasions. He used one to take out Eddie G. in Key Largo, also the head Nazi in Casablanca.
Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) and Colt R80 Monitor (BAR clone) in "Bonnie and Clyde":

Pistol: Walther PPK in ALL of the 'Old School' James Bond flicks
Great list. I think Rambo had an M-60, quite a crowd pleaser.
I notice a distressing lack of hand weapons. May I suggest:
Handgun calibers:
Clint Eastwood, "Dirty Harry": Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum, "The most powerful handgun in the world".
Clint Eastwood, "Sudden Impact": Smith & Wesson .44 AutoMag, "Go ahead. Make my day".
Raid On Entebe: Charles Bronson: IMI UZI 9mm sub-machine gun.
RoboCop: IMI Desert Eagle .357/.44 heavily modified, "Dead or alive, you're coming with me".
Rifles:
A-Team (TV): Ruger Mini-14, the Ranch Rifle.
Sci-fi (wish list):
Star Trek: Phaser (any variant).
Star Wars: Han Solo: Blaster.
Star Wars: Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan, Yoda: Light Saber.
Clint Eastwood, Dirty Harry, S&W Model 29, .44 Cal
RoboCop (1987), Barrett
Every Damn Gun in Heat(1995), especially Tom Sizemores Galil
Mel Gibson, Lethal Weapon, Beretta 92
Honorable Mention: Nathon Filllon, Firefly, LeMat Revolver
The ak47 Charlie sheen used to kill Barnes at the end of platoon. And as a student of mil history made me want one bad which fortuitously came out just around when the chinese flooded us with pretty nice copies for about 250 bucks in the late eighties The Walther ppk in the old bond movies, which prompted me to by an affordable polish p64 which looks pretty similar when they started flooding in a year or so ago at a ridiculous price of about 200 bucks for virtually unused unfired condition guns. then thiers the golden gun from the bond movie, the Mosin Nagant carried in enemies at the gate which proceeded the flood of Mosins into the country, now I've got a couple of those and find the history behind them fascinating as well. And the six inch ventilated rib barrel 357 magnum carried by the protagonist in the walking dead series.
Speaking of AK47's, WOLVERINES! Red Dawn 1984. I'll throw in the RPG for that movie, too.
Chuck Connors' 1892 in The Rifleman.
Richard Boone's Calvary SAA in Have Gun Will Travel
Street sweeper .., Arnold, Terminator
Brad Pitt in "Fury" using a commandeered SturmGewehr.
James Bonds AR-7 that can take down aircraft.
Desert Eagle .50 from the movie Snatch. Great movie scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ivz4NA4zHzQ
I nominate the Luger used by Avatar to shoot Blackwolf in the animated movie "Wizards".
It was accentuated by the classic line, "Here is a little trick momma showed me when you weren't around."
james t kirk(star trek) in "where no man has gone before" with his phaser rifle. the only appearance in the series of the rifle.
No Garand? If Sean Bean's Baker from the BBC TV series is in than Lt Winter's Garand from Band of Brothers should be in too.
For pistols, Clint Eastwood's revolver in Pale Rider with several pre-filled cylinders for quick reloads.
Al_in_Ottawa
Not a movie, but Barney Fife's Colt .38 special revolver and single bullet kept in his shirt pocket.
"Carbine Williams" , James Stewart, 1952. the gun in the movie was a cut-down Remington Model 8 in the white...
