Not even George Orwell could predict that Big Brother would see in the dark. FBI FLIR ships over Baltimore.

Surveillance planes spotted in the sky for days after West Baltimore rioting
"A government official familiar with the operations, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss matters not approved for public release, said the flights were aerial support that Baltimore police officials requested from the FBI."

Most people don't realize exactly how these aerial surveillance platforms are being used. Google "persistent aerial surveillance" and go from there. These platforms have very high resolution imaging arrays that cover large areas of territory. They orbit an area for hours at a time just watching everything that is going on in that area. The imagery is downlinked to a ground station and fed to a fusion center for analysis. Think of it as being just like an anti-theft camera system in a jiffy store. The analysts get a crime report at a specific spot. They pull up the footage for that spot in the system and watch it going back in time. They can use automated computers systems to tag people moving in the frame and have the machines track them and generate log files of every geographic location they go to and how long they linger at any particular spot. This way they can spot an entire drug dealers network from street dealers, holders, who actually possess the drugs til the dealer makes a sale, the security lookouts, the couriers, the cook houses where the drug shipments are broken up into street level sale baggies, etc.... This technology is the secret weapon that the US used in Iraq to "win" the Surge Campaign against the Iraqi Insurgency. They'd sit and watch an area to find and track all the insurgents. Then they'd send in the raiding parties and arrest or kill every swinging Richard at the known insurgents homes.

IR signature reduction won't work. Most of these aerial platforms work in multiple wavelengths of light simultaneously. Unless you're Harry Potter or Klingon you're going to be seen.

The AUVSI Drone trade show is going on in Atlanta right now if you have $600 to pay for an exhibit hall pass. The folks here will gladly tell you all about the technology if you act like you are in the market.

You're better off thinking of ways to spoof and create hundreds of thousands of false leads for the analysts to go insane trying to sort. You need to be creative thinking about the places and times you visit. Maybe you could even implicate some of your "Betters and Only Ones" in the conspiracy. Just sayin...

Funny....

Today on the Shepard Smith show on Fox they ran the aerial surveillance story but the image on the screen was a Cessna with Civil Air Patrol markings.

FLIR is not the magic eye it's made out to be.

a few years back some idiot was climbing mt.washington in the late fall without the proper gear. he hit the snow line and kept going when he should have tuned back.

well, he had a cell phone, and a GPS. so he calls for help. the NH NG sends out a blackhawk configured for SAR with the latest FLIR on it. they had exact coordinates. the guy was sitting in the middle of a snow field. they were talking with him directly on his cell phone.

they couldn't find him. finally someone came down from the summit and dragged the idiot off the mountain.

Yeh Allen. But how do you know when the evil eye of Sauron is not upon you. That is the billion dollar question.

It's a winner take all game and you might just be betting your life and those around you if you choose poorly.

Using open source intel like the ones mentioned in this article can show an interested party what the range of the Fibbies sensors is and maybe what kind of sensors they are likely to be. we know from experience some planes have visible light only sensors. Others are ELINT birds with airborne Stingray boxes which are fully capable of doing a hell of a lot more than just locating and tracking your phone. Lastly some of their birds are fully loaded multisensor platforms with multi-spectral optical systems, FLIR, and ELINT capabilities. These would most likely be the jet powered platforms because of their vastly better payload capacity.

"grey man" works with air power too. they can't pick one man out of a crowd. the armor of anonymity is pretty powerful.

after all, sauron couldn't keep his eye on 2 hobbits and the black gate at the same time...
