Marine court-martialed for refusing to remove Bible verse

“If the government can order a Marine not to display a Bible verse, they could try and order her not to get a religious tattoo, or go to church on Sunday,” said Liberty Institute attorney Michael Berry. “Restricting a Marine’s free exercise of religion is blatantly unconstitutional.”

even I as a non Christian find this abhorrent, so much for the BS that "their fighting for our freedoms" If a member of the largest religious group is not able to display a simple quote then ultimately no religion is safe from persecution.

What about Major Hassan? Didn't he have Koran verses on his email signature and business card? Nobody dared say anything about that.

LOTS of anti-Christian comments on the site. The single thing that was apparently overlooked by all was the question of whether the 'order' was lawful. The whole case hinges on that key issue. Period. That is where the young Marine made her biggest mistake in representing herself. Competent counsel would have capitalized on that.

We are ONE step away from civil war in America. Inching closer every day. Infringing on our religious beliefs any further (such as a ruling forcing gay marriage on every state) could likely be the straw that broke the camel's back. After such a ruling, it will be immoral to support the federal government in my opinion, if it is not already.
