Almost on the road this morning. Having trouble opening email.

Haven't a clue why. This hotel computer just won't cooperate. Says AOL is a "blocked site because of content." What a laugh. Except it isn't funny. Yet it will allow me onto Sipsey Street. What a crock. More later.

In most cases corporate IT folks can't keep up with what sites to block so they "outsource" the list and maybe even the proxy server it resides on. My former employer, BellSouth, at one point blocked NRA but not NRA/ILA. No it doesn't make any sense but then it doesn't have to. It just needs to generate revenue for the company who lands the IT service contract. Nobody checks up on this stuff much less has the horsepower to get it fixed. And the corporate board would say "What's a blacklist?"

Most cheap content blockers use the DNS address (www.oathkeepers.org)and do not bother to lock out the actual IP address (209.188.24.130). If you can discover the IP address for AOL - there will be a ton of 'em, you might give that a shot. Also a good idea to have that anyway in case the DNS servers are shut down - will give you a bit more online time before a total shutdown happens.

I just got back from 5 days in NM seeing my son & grandkids (youngest of whom graduated HS Friday) and had constant problems with the router at that hotel, too. I have a hunch it is related to the fact that you cannot simply log into the router but can go in once accepting the T&C of the hotel's WiFi. I was constantly getting dropouts and having problems getting out.

Stay safe on the trip. Don't do anything that will get you tossed in jail without consulting Rosie first. Hope she or David can get to SSI to tell us we need to get bail together.
