Regarding the upcoming Gun Rights Policy Conference.

I have been asked by several folks if I will be attending the upcoming Gun Rights Policy Conference in Chicago. The answer is, no, I won't, for a variety of perfectly good reasons. First, I lack the resources and must gather more to accomplish the much greater tasks ahead of me in Colorado and Connecticut come October-November. Second, I have a lot of writing and editing before I make those trips so I really don't have the time. Third, I think having a "Gun Rights Policy Conference" in Rahm Emmanuel's anti-firearm kingdom -- thereby enriching the city's coffers -- is at least a contradiction in terms. Fourth, at the last GRPC I attended in 2012 Alan Gottlieb ordered my mic turned off when I had the temerity to ask, in the middle of all the pro-Romney triumphalism, what they were going to when Romney lost -- a possibility that they did not admit. Later that night I had the first of two small strokes. To say that I would be as welcome as a skunk under the front pew on Sunday morning would be an understatement. I make the prags nervous. Who needs that excrement? There are bigger fish to fry and I've still got to catch them. So, as much as I want to see some of you Midwestern Three Percenters, I'm going to have to pass.

Mike, next time there's a big gun show in Indy (such as an NRA [yuck] convention), and you wanna meet with some threepers, get in touch with me and I'll put you up in my deluxe RV at my expense, and drive you in. I can be reached at Seven Six Five 602-0082.

Great point about this being in Chicago - a gun control capital ! It's as in your face bovine excrement as the former head of the NAACP being named Ben Jealous.

The point made about spending money there is also wonderful. I make it constantly regarding the NRAs "new" media strutting. Where it used to funnel money to " mainstream media " through political campaigns, it's now cutting out the middle man and giving it straight to media instead.

Aren't you NRA members so happy that your dues money goes right into the MSNBC coffers?

Time to wake up folks. Stop being conned out of your money.

If people who are supposed to be on our side don't want you, never go where supposed allies don't want you. There are plenty of enemies to fight.

Smart decision.

Your comment on a skunk under the pew makes me think of the Mississippi Squirrel revival:

what the hell is a "gun rights policy" conference all about anyway. Its a right. No laws are acceptable relating to the regulation of a right.

It is not new - been 'conferencing' for over a quater of a century and we are still where we are.

Put the eneryg into more immeadiate projects which have some likelyhood of a good result.

If they come up with some earth shattering, game changer of an idea we will soon hear about it!

I don't blame ya Mike. I wouldn't go to The Peoples Republic of Chicago for ANY reason, or for that matter, to anywhere else in Illinois, either. I try not to even buy anything from anywhere in Illinois, too. If for no other reason, those people were stupid enough to elect Obama to the Senate and to the Presidency. Screw Illinois and all their stupid anti-American collectivist people!

The whole point of siting it in Chicago is the same as when they had it in (actually, just south of) San Francisco a couple years ago -- to rub it in the faces of local pols who just had to write checks to SAF/NRA/CCKBA after losing a monumental lawsuit.
