The stupid bastards really are puzzled. Well, all I can say, is God bless Larry Pratt and GOA.

But, but, if you wish it, it just has to happen, right? Whatever Happened to Gun Control?
It certainly didn’t look like things would turn out this way. In the days after the shootings, almost everyone involved in the gun debate anticipated big changes. The National Rifle Association’s Wayne LaPierre may have blustered publicly against gun control, but as The New York Times later reported, the NRA’s top lobbyists were negotiating with the White House and Senate Democrats on background-check legislation under the assumption that it was inevitable. . . But persistent misinformation and agitation by far-right members of Congress and gun groups even more rigid than the NRA slowly doomed the effort. Republicans who said they’d support background-check legislation started to waver, often citing bogus fears of a national gun registry that the bill explicitly forbade. The NRA began feeling the heat from groups like Gun Owners of America, which urged a no-compromise approach, and its lobbyists dropped out of the negotiations. By the time the bill reached the Senate floor, everybody knew it wouldn’t pass. And with no bipartisan Senate bill on his desk, House Speaker John Boehner was free to never talk about reform again.

Hi Mike,
'Remember a "few" years ago when you and Dave Codrea were denied passes to the NRA get-together whatever I believe it was in Charlotte,NC?? I thought that was mighty "un-civil" of them and dropped my membership in the NRA opting for Larry's Gun Owners' of America. Not one thin dime from me has gone to the NRA since then. This post tells all, Right On Larry!!
Got Gunz??.

It's dated 9/16, comments are closed, and no comments are posted. It's as if they knew from the start that it was an idiotic article....

Never sent a nickel to the NRA, but I have been a GOA member for six years. The slow bleed, death by a thousand cuts of gun rights in the United States has to be stopped. No free tote bags or slick magazine for me, I want a pack of rabid pit bulls in D.C. stopping the Bradys and Bloombergs at every attempt.

I let my NRA membership lapse and spent the money on GOA instead, too. That article did not even mention the Colorado Recalls in it bc it destroys the narrative of gun control being more popular. It really misses the biggest point of all: thanks to social media and the Internet, the GOA and like minded bloggers have now become several magnitudes more powerful than they were pre-newtown. I believe the goa has doubled in size, and its Facebook page has probably increased by about four times or more and presently has around 160k more likes than the every town for gun safety page by billionaire Bloomberg.

A great deal or power shifted from the NRA to the goa as a result of the last fight the gun banners picked, and now legions of pro gun people proudly defend AR15 and AK rifles when just a decade ago the NRA was very hesitant to do so. So in effect the entire pro-gun movement has been radicalized as a result of the last gun control fight. The polls have also shifted dramatically to being against gun control as Gallup and many other polls have shown.

The victories gun banners had in CT and NY suck, but they were pyrrhic in nature and have already made politicians afraid of the gun issue again - which is why there is a shift toward ballot initiatives instead of politicians having to vote. Just ask governor Hickenlooper in CO about that - another figure curiously left off the article - he went from being a formality to win again to being in a dogfight thanks to gun control.

So much for the NRA, if you can believe the Marxist writer, and I do because of the other information I've verified regarding that organization.

The GOA is the only way to go.

The NRA are sellouts or penetrated or both but they are not freedom's side anymore.

The first time I heard Larry Pratt-- the first time I heard of GOA-- I was scanning the channels and found him on NPR giving it for all it had, refuting every gun-grabbing lie and falsehood thrown at him. I emailed Pratt to say thanks, everything I would've said he said in my stead, and I immediately joined GOA. I had endured years of handwringing frustration with the NRA. Amazingly, he wrote me back within minutes to thank me, and I've been a loyal member ever since. NOT ONE INCH...NO SURRENDER!

"Whatever happened to gun control?"

How about, that people decided it was stupid, counterproductive and tyrannical?

Except as a wet dream of the ruling class, gun control is dead. Looks like some people haven't got the message yet.
