From Herschel Smith: Conspiracy Theories And Ideological Purity Among Preppers And Patriots

Herschel says, "Mike is nicer than I am." You could get arguments on that proposition from any number of people, including the Attorney General of the United States. ;-)

as in, "you have to knead the dough to make good bread", some of us like the kneading part more than the eating part. i think you're doing it about right.

Nice that he mentions you. Unfortunate that this is the best part of the post.

The same could be said against Herschel. Denigrating people on the same team because some have different opinions about the .gov story is not helpful.

There are highly decorated engineers and architects, including presidential science academy winners that don't believe the .gov story on 9/11, including friends of mine that were Army EOD (one is an E-9). I don't know exactly what happened, but I know one thing, the 9/11 commission report is a lie, and a bad one at that.

So no need to lump people on your own team that have serious historical questions with real baisis, with those that believe in reptillians. It's counterproductive and rude. We can agree to disagree.

he brings up some points, and it is a worthy discussion. Personally, I am of the opinion that any lawmaker who voted for the patriot act, or voted to fund DHS or TSA is misguided at best, and at worst, not a patriot and not on my team. and yes, that applies to allen west. As far as you, Mr Vanderbough, I got some disagreements with you and some beefs with some of your opinions, but that doesn't stop me from respecting and admiring you and the work you do for freedom and constitutional governance. what we are working with is a double edged sword........the greatest strength of the patriot movement, is our commitment to individuality, individual rights, but that is also our biggest obstacle to unity.......maybe someday we can figure it out, hopefully before we end up on the losing side

I'm the "anonymous" whose post was quoted by Herschel. I'm not sure why he replied on a different blog, but I'll post my reply right here.

Before going on, my earlier post was NOT intended to be an attack on Mike V, or even against any misguided but well-meaning soul who is currently in the military. It was simply a blunt statement of what I believe to be the hard truth.

Sections in italics are Herschel's words:

"Look what has happened to anonymous. To him, the U.S. government has done nothing but destroy freedom around the world (a manifestly and demonstrably false assertion)..."

I didn't exactly claim destroying freedom was the ONLY thing the US government does, but that's close enough. Regardless, I stand by my words as written.

Herschel, do you really think we fight for freedom abroad? Really? We don't even have freedom within the United States. The NFA, NDAA, asset forfeiture, random stop and frisk, mass surveillance, police thuggery with almost no accountability ... the list is far too long to fully enumerate here.

The US government doesn't even consider you to be the owner of your own body. For example, your owners permit you to get raging drunk, but you're not allowed to take a puff on a joint or sell one to a friend without risking arrest and imprisonment in a barbaric prison.

Is this the kind of "freedom" we're spreading around the globe, Herschel? Slavery is still slavery, even if you're used to it and/or your masters treat you reasonably well at present.

Even more, the US has a long history of installing brutal dictators in places like Central America and the Middle East.

Remember a fellow by the name of Saddam Hussein? He was once a US ally, and the US government turned a blind eye to his use of chemical weapons against local populations. Only when Saddam ceased to be an obedient puppet did the US turn on him.

There are some more examples listed and described at the following links:

http://www.sodahead.com/living/why-does-the-united-states-of-america-support-dictators/question-1491143/

...and is the “father of lies.” He has supplanted the title of the devil, who God calls the father of lies, with the U.S. government. I cannot imagine a more ridiculous, outlandish, off the charts stupid assertion. When you are rewriting Scripture for God, your ego is writing checks that your body and mind can’t cash. You are also risking blasphemy. I advise extreme caution. God is not to be taken lightly.

Um, I was speaking figuratively. Or did you actually think I really meant that all lies ever told come from the US government? LOL

Lastly, a word on "conspiracy theories," which I didn't address in my previous post but came up in Herschel's response.

Would the US ever seriously consider staging terrorist attacks to drum up support for a war? No, of course not! How ridiculous. Oh, wait a minute...

And it's not as if the Israelis would ever attack the US and try to blame it on someone else. But what's this?
