Some folks just don't grasp that if you push for something to be illegal, the extreme endpoint is that someone could get killed by LEOs for violations.
e.g. - drivers trying to elude police for seat belt violations...
Given the current social and political climate one needs to proceed carefully when dealing with any LEO, especially in a traffic stop. You don't know what reason(s) the officer is operating upon.
Do you want to get shot/die over a minor traffic violation ? >Jeff
Let me know where to contribute to this victims defense. The "officers' with the 2 year old minds, guns, and badges need to be on the other end of the gun. This was total bullshit. Send this fvcking idiot a$shole cop to jail.
The police should not be allowed to use deadly force in any situation where any other citizen would not be allowed to do so. In fact, in any use of deadly force whatever justification would be allowable as a defense for a regular citizen should be an AFFIRMATIVE DEFENSE if the accused is a police officer or FLEA. For those of you who are not familiar with the term, a standard defense places the burden of proof upon the prosecution to negate the defense beyond reasonable doubt. An affirmative defense requires the defendant to prove the defense is applicable by a preponderance of evidence.
Seems to me the driver got shot for doing exactly what the cop was demanding he do: "get out of the car!" This may be a lack of proper instruction at whatever training academy cops attend. This sort of thing keeps happening. You can be reasonably sure there is no standardized commands even in the same locale, when you get multiple cops all yelling contradictory commands while pointing weapons at people.
Whatever happened to the old "Freeze! Don't Move!" command?
Officer anonymous, i'm fairly certain that a large portion of your brethern have already done that. Defending a bad shoot like the one above is part of the problem.
Hey Liberty or Death; if you can't understand the simple fact you and your homies in blue need to quit shooting people simply because you're scared of not being able to "go home safe at the end of your shift", maybe you bunch of PUSSIES need to find a safer line of work. Like, oh I don't know, maybe disarming IED's in Iraq? No one ever said being a cop is supposed to be SAFE! You want to go home safe? Treat people with RESPECT instead of going for your gun at the slightest excuse!! You make me wanna puke.
If cops shooting unarmed seat belt scoffers, And raping women while they are on shift is not reason For the rest of us to start thinking seriously that police are a pestilence on law abiding citizens, is there anything you will not defend, when done by police?
There is a solution to this, and you won't like it.
So who said I was defending those poor excuses for human tissue? There is no excuse. They need death. Slow death. However saying all cops are bad is the same as saying all gun owners are bad because of the actions of a few. I am very satisfied with my career and sleep very well at night because I made the hard right choices. The vast majority of police are good people. The 1% that fuck it up for the rest of us are the real problem. The very senior admins who are so worried about lawsuits that they actively cover stuff up are the problem. I got passed over for promotions because I wouldn't "play ball" and I am perfectly ok with that because I and several others did the right thing. Hell, The Blaze did a piece some time ago showing the shit we get for blowing whistles. This comes from the top. As for these rapists and trigger happy people, the academies need to be MUCH more vigerous in weeding these power hungry ego trippers out. A public servant shows humility and compassion. These people above are authoritarians with no place as a peace officer (yes, that's what I see myself as). So, saying there are no good cops or accusing me of defending the above criminals does nothing to make us honest police help you. Remember, there may just be a time when you will need us to overlook violations of unconstitutional laws. But hey, I am retiring very soon so it won't be me either way.
Hey Liberty, Thank you for your service. Being a cop is one of the most demanding jobs I could imagine. Keeping it clean while walking the thin blue line is tough on a lot of cops, and some cant do it with integrity, I get that. For those of you who do, Thanks.
I call bullshit on the claim that only 1% of cops are corrupt. The correct figure is no lower than 99%.
To see this, watch any video of a public demonstration in which the police commit senseless violence against peaceful protesters (and, not uncommonly, even members of the press). You have many such videos to choose from. In those demonstrations, how many "good cops" do you see arresting the bad ones? How many times do you hear about the violent "officers" being charged with their crimes later on?
In fact, just watch ANY video in which a cop acts sadistically toward a member of the public right in full view of other cops.
Why are police not afraid to break the law and violate a citizen's civil rights right in front of other cops who have the legal authority to make an arrest for such violations? Because every cop knows that other cops won't arrest him for violating a citizen's rights. The pigs stick together like glue, and this amounts to much more than a mutual admiration society. They observe a strict code of silence.
On the rare occasion that any police officer reports a comrade for abusing the public trust, retaliation is sure to come. From Frank Serpico of the NYPD to Christopher Dorner of the LAPD, the Police Mafia is ruthless toward those who report wrongdoing in its ranks.
Getting back to the shooting of this driver, I'm going to be charitable and opine that the stormtrooper's actions in this particular case were less due to malice and more due to cowardice. It's still appropriate for him to be fired and criminally charged for his reckless conduct, just as any private citizen would be charged for shooting someone on the mere suspicion that they may be reaching for a gun. But I'm very surprised to hear that he actually is being charged. There have been many far worse cases of police brutality caught on video in which malice and sadism on the part of the police was perfectly clear (e.g., Kelly Thomas), but the police in those cases nearly always got off.

I wonder how long that had to beat off to get rid of the b*ner he got from shooting that guy.
Shot for a lack of common sense, I'd say.

I think he lost his boner when he lost his job.

Now-a-days, They'll let any psycho with a power fetish strap on a gun and push civilians around, including shooting a few.
That cop deserves to be hanging from a lamp post. Completely unjustified shoot. "Reaching aggressively," my lily white ASS!!
there are no good cops asshole

Where do they get these braindead pricks? Don't tell me this was a surprise. I'll bet there are past incidences that foretold this.

Proof the cops need to be reined in.
