Herschel Smith: Fun with candidates, Part Three.

So if you’re against torture, the good news for you is that Donald Trump is too. On the other hand, if you’re for torture, the good news for you is that Donald Trump is too! Trump is a Rorschach ink blot. You get to project what you want. He is your wildest imaginations, all of your hopes and dreams, the caretaker of your concerns, and in short, everything to everyone.

Trump is the "Greatest Flip Flopper" of all time, and we know the Donald likes to be known as the best at everything. If you change your position on everything, you cannot be pinned down on anything. He gave campaign contributions four times to Hillary for President in 2008 and supported a renewal of Bill Clinton's "Assault Weapons Ban", that is all I need to know to not support the guy.

The Donald took lessons from his friends Bill and Hillary Clinton.

I'm awe struck at the ignorance and stupidity of the American voter. People voting for rhetoric, just as they did with Obama. What has Donald Trump DONE that proves he's a conservative? He doesn't even know what the words means.

The important thing to note here is that Donald Trump loves you.

Whether he loves you more than Hawaiian hotels, Idaho potatoes and the Great Wall of China is yet to be determined.

"Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler's collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed ... Hitler's speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939, reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist," Marie Brenner wrote....

"He learned how to become a charismatic speaker, and people, for whatever reason, became enamored with him,"

"People were most willing to follow him, because he seemed to have the right answers in a time of enormous economic upheaval."

Can someone enlighten me? Name one politician that hasn't flip flopped on something.
I think all the anti-Trumpets have fallen for the same tricks as the Trumpets. This election isn't about Trump. It' about telling Washington DC to eff off.

People need to stop being invested in politics before they can effectively commit to working outside of the political system. This is of course why limited government is a crucial factor in promoting free-market capitalism, since the more people have to worry about political factors the more they are free to pursue excellence in their profession. But it's even more true of armed insurrection. If you're going to be serious about defending your rights against a tyrannical government, you can't be convinced that the problem is just one bad guy ruining everything.

If we had a limited government, Obama would have accomplished nothing other than being impeached and removed for his misconduct. Or the custodial staff would have simply refused to allow him into the areas of the White House that are not open to the public. The presumption that the Presidency has unlimited powers is what has enabled tyranny, and getting so worked up over who gets to be President rather than demanding that we return to Constitutional standards of legal authority is precisely why ANY person that gets in will be a tyrant (leaving aside the fact that she's already a clinical narcissist).

Trump supporters irritate me, but they are consistently more open to the notion that the current government is entirely illegitimate in principle than anyone else's supporters. But if you seriously believe that unconstitutional government is illegitimate, if you take that as your premise, then you can't support ANY of the major candidates because they're all assuming as a matter of course that the office they're seeking is legitimate.

I can imagine someone running for office while proclaiming openly and honestly that the powers currently accorded to it are illegitimate and need to be stripped, but I can't imagine them gaining much traction in our current political environment.

Because of the kind of people for whom the argument is about who to put in a position of unlimited power rather than whether there should be a position of unlimited power.

In other words, everyone talking about how terrible Trump is.

Trump is Trump. He's scheming, dishonest, intellectual progressive pretending to be an evil, rapacious, power-hungry fascist to scare voters away from conservative policy positions, but at the end of the day he's not worse than anyone else running. If you're going to hand anyone unlimited power, you might as well hand it to someone who doesn't actually want it, and however weak Trump's credentials in everything else, he's the only major candidate who really doesn't want unlimited power.

Hillary is Hillary. She's a scheming, dishonest, murderous narcissist who's clearly desperately hungry to have unlimited power to ruin or kill anyone who displeases her. And the main difference between her any every major candidate but Trump is her lack of ability to pretend otherwise. Trump can't really pretend otherwise because he actually doesn't want the power and pretending to be evil incarnate is crucial to avoiding it.

Trump supporters are idiots if they think they're going to somehow shanghai Trump into being President, he's smart enough to lose without openly admitting he's doing it on purpose. But most of them just want to give a giant middle finger to the political/media establishment, and Trump does a bang-up job of that.

Also, it's funny to watch Trump crap his pants at the thought of being elected, it really is.

Yea, Trump is the worst candidate possible for President, except for all the others.

Every human being changes his mind at times; that's not flip-flopping. Flip-flopping is indecisiveness, a bad characteristic in a leader or policy-maker. Trump isn't really a flip-flopper, though; he uses strategic deception. This is the "art of the deal:" stake out an initial bargaining position entirely for purposes of manipulating others to go where you want to go.

Because he plays his marks, a.k.a. supporters, so well, they assume that whatever they want is what he wants. But Trump is in the game for Trump -- not for limited government, or liberty, or the Constitution & Bill of Rights -- he's in it for Trump. His political philosophy, to the extent he has one, is progressivism and fascism -- unrestricted state, for the glory of the state.

I suppose supporting Trump is sticking it to the establishment in a sense, but it is a suicidal way to do it.

Not that I am really invested in the results of who becomes the next president (other than Hillary)- but I must have missed seeing Mr. Trump crap his pants at the thought of being elected- are there some videos out there with his facial expressions or comments alluding to such thoughts somewhere? These 'reverse psychology' analyses of Trump from folks on the so-called "right" are fascinating. How is he pretending to be "evil incarnate"? He is so far to the left of what used to be conservative positions. But he said something about stopping the tide of jihadis and immigrants, therefore... Hitler !! And it's all an act to make sure he cant be elected!! riiiight. It would be the greatest fun if he is elected- just to see all the cuckservatives and shitlibs heads exploding. So you are correct in your assertion that this is all about a big screw you to the establishment.
