Found this on a leftist website -- "A quick look at how civil war here in America would be a very bad idea."

Found this here on OpEdNews, a "progressive" mailing list/website. Written by "foxholeatheist," whose real name is apparently Joseph Ray, he describes himself thusly:

"I am a ten year army vet who served in Iraq and Kosovo. Right now I am in school doing what I should have done 15 years ago, get an education. After getting out of the army I learned about how corrupt our government has become. Now I spend my free time arguing with class mates and other people I run into in the hopes I can wake them up too."

This is the image that went along with the original post:

I will have some brief comments, and I invite yours, at the other end.

A quick look at how civil war here in America would be a very bad idea.By foxholeatheist

Recently many individuals and groups have started talking about another civil war in America. These people are not just from one ideology nor are they from obscure fringe groups. State Governors and elected representatives are some of the people calling for open warfare in America. As a soldier I was sent to combat zones in Iraq and Kosovo where open civil war was happening. I am writing this because American civilians have no idea what open warfare is. Before someone makes the first move and starts something that cannot be undone I think we all need to know what life would be like in our hometowns in the event of war.

To start with civil war would not be between two well defined groups. There would be no less than three groups in any one area and dozens in some areas. The federal government would be the third party in any armed conflict. At the beginning of civil war there would be martial law. The federal government would actively kill and imprison all persons not a member of the armed forces that participated in combat. Because of the degradation of our constitution the federal government no longer has any legal restraints. The President, whomever that person may be, has dictatorial powers because of such things as directive 51.

For those who think they would join any side in a civil war know this: When your enemies find out who you are everyone you know and care about would be in danger. All non combatants would also be in danger of death. Your enemies will kill everyone connected to you. This means you mom working at the local grocery store, your sons and daughters at grade school, or your grandparents at their home would all be targets for assassination. Before picking up arms to solve our problems remember that you will be putting all the people you know at risk of death.

Do not think that civil war would be limited to rifles. The only thing America actually produces is weapons of mass destruction. This includes mortars, grenades, rockets, land mines and the deadliest chemical weapons on the planet. We also have the world's largest stockpile of nuclear weapons. This means when your mom goes to work your enemies will bomb and mortar the building she works in. Your child's school will have the same fate. Know that if you survive any length of time you will see everyone you know die if there is civil war.

Some State Governors think they can simply secede from the union without bloodshed. This is a ridiculous delusion. If a state legislation does this there would be instant civil war. On every military installation across the globe American soldiers would kill each other overnight. Post commanders would have to detainee and execute all those not aligned with their own ideology. This means if your post commander is a republican all those soldiers known to be liberals would be executed. Liberal commanders would do the same to republicans.

The next thing to think about is the duration of the conflict. Simply put you will never see the end of it. If you live out your normal life and die of old age you will still not see the end of civil war. In the event of civil war America would never recover. There would never again be a union of 50 states. Instead, our descendants would have several different nations just like Western Europe does.

Let us not forget our large stockpile of nuclear weapons. How long would it take for a conservative faction to nuke San Francisco or Seattle? How long would it take a mentally disturbed liberal to nuke parts of Texas and Alaska? Scarred and war weary soldiers will use whatever weapons they have at hand. So if you still want civil war in America remember that we have several hundred nuclear weapons to play with.

My whole point of this is that if you want to fix America then start restoring the things that made America in the first place. These things are the Constitution and the rule of law. There is no such thing as a unified people. We are all different from one another. The only thing that makes any nation is a constitution. The only civil society is the one that recognizes universal human rights. The only free nation is the one that obeys the rule of law. If you really want to fix America restore these things. This means voting.
The Foxholeatheist

I think I understand what our lefty friend is trying to get at, but to my mind, his scenario is flawed as well as his conclusions. Voting when you're in a permanent minority yields nothing but false hopes. No one sane wants a civil war. There are worse alternatives, like permanent servitude for our children to the collectivist oligarchy.

That's all the time I can spare for analysis. Feel free to pick it apart.

A proud Threeper in California

"MIke,

Thanks for making the link available for the III flags. I got mine in the mail today and, as you can see, it is proudly hanging in my bedroom window (facing the road).

Neal"

Unbelievable.

http://users.skynet.be/fa926657/files/B29.wmv

The question has been asked: "What is the difference between a Threeper and an Oath Keeper?"

The picture below from Mosul has prompted some questions. I will try my best to answer.

While Oath Keepers and Three Percenters are separate groups, it is not hard to find people who consider themselves both an Oath Keeper and a Three Percenter.

However, Oath Keepers is an organization, with a defined membership and by-laws. I first met Stewart Rhodes of Oath Keepers at the ceremony in Lexington on 19 April. As the guy who first enunciated the modern concept of "the three percent," let me explain:

The Three Percent is, well, more of an attitude, a shared belief. We don't keep membership rolls or take dues. If we're an organization, as some have alleged, we're the most disorganized organization I have ever seen. The Three Percent is more of a philosophy than an organization, and there certainly isn't any conflict between what we believe and what Oath Keepers stand for. That's why you're going to find overlap between the two groups. We're really the same group of folks, coming at the problem of maintaining the ordered liberty embodied in the Founder's constitutional Republic from slightly different angles and starting points, but with the same goal. That's why we were proud to have Oath Keepers' six at the 12 September March on Washington. And that's why you'll find folks all over the country (and, now in Iraq and Afghanistan) wearing the patches of both groups.

A Three Percent Oath Keeper in Iraq

Just got this over the electronic transom, Outstanding! And no, I don't know where the patches and tabs came from. Just an example of the idea being more powerful than the means to deliver it.

Here's some of the message what came with the image:

Just thought the WRSA and the Sipsey Street boys might like to see what we are wearing while over here in Iraq. We . . . know what the deal is, and when the time comes (which it will), we know where we stand and continue to make preparations for it.

Keep up the good work!

Now we know why they think Oath Keepers is a threat.

You're not paranoid if somebody's really out to get you.

“The Catastrophe” - What the End of Bronze-Age Civilization Means for Modern Times

The Destruction of Troy by Jan Brueghel the Elder

Every city in a Desolate Crescent from the Aegean to the Sinai was razed to the ground: a bloody, sudden inverse of millenia of building. People lost cities, cultures, names. Gods were forgotten. Traditions died. Empires ended: splintering first into regions, then cities, then smaller. The mightiest and best organized, like Egypt, managed to bend every nerve, staving off collapse for a generation before shattering.

Finally, there was a gap: the long total blank that frustrates the hell out of anyone trying to look back. What is known is that everything stopped, with the catastrophe's survivors left only with legends of a better time and a centuries-long struggle for bare subsistence.

This was the Bronze Age Collapse, the first Dark Age in recorded history, and the one everyone forgets about (when you think of Dark Age, do Egyptians battling the Sea Peoples come to mind? No, it's togas, Goths and vomitoriums) despite the fact that it was arguably more devastating than the end of the Roman Empire.

To imagine the scale, picture this: almost every city in Western Europe and North America destroyed. Not reduced, not scaled down. People-don't-live-here-anymore-just-ruins destroyed. Everywhere else is in turmoil. Armed bands, growing larger with every subsequent disaster, keep spreading out in search of new loot. Some particularly rich pocket of civilization (East or West Coast U.S., France, Japan, Australia, take your pick) strains every nerve to deal with the threat, drafting all able-bodied adults to arms. The immediate physical danger is stopped (say by air power and machine guns), but the process so uproots the civilization that it too collapses in a generation.

It was that nasty. It was an apocalypse. That's why there's a hell of a lot to be learned from the first time the lights went out. --

“The Catastrophe” - What the End of Bronze-Age Civilization Means for Modern Times by Thomas F. Bertonneau at

Excerpts:

“If the affluent society should begin to federate members of the external proletariat for unskilled labor or military service, as the Bronze Age kingdoms seem to have done with the Shardana and the Shekelesh and as the Roman Empire did with the Gothic barbarians, then the internal and external proletariats can arrive at a sense of a common grudge and, however dimly perceived, of a common cause. The avarice of the proletariat can grow stronger than the commitment of the civic classes to their own preservation.”

“Archeologists, historians, and classicists call it “the Catastrophe.” It happened more than three thousand years ago in the lands surrounding the Eastern Mediterranean. Neither geological nor climatological but rather sociological in character, this chaotic enormity erased civilization in a wide swath of geography stretching from the western portions of Greece east to the inner fastnesses of Anatolia, and all the way to Mesopotamia; it turned south as well, overrunning many islands, finally swamping the borders of Egypt. It left cities in smoking ruin, their wealth plundered; it plunged the affected regions into a Dark Age, bereft of literacy, during which populations drastically shrank while the level of material culture reverted to that of a Stone Age village. “

“Envy or resentment, disregard for law and civilized achievement, and a strong proclivity to violent expropriation of other men’s chattels constitute the chief traits of the Hesiodic 'Iron Age.'”

“The fate of Troy at the hands of the Achaean expedition foretells the fate of many a heroic kingdom on its monarch’s return. Homer thus grasps acutely that he lives in a time of providential revival. Homer knows that between his own brightening day and the last sunlit era stretches a prolonged twilight commencing with abrupt destruction and consisting in fallow centuries.”

“The architects of the Cypriote cities built according to a sophisticated aesthetic, influenced by the old Cretan civilization. These exquisite towns met their death at just about the same time as the Anatolian cities met theirs. At one Cypriote site, the fleeing citizens hid their valuables in cubbyholes, imagining that they might soon return. Cyprus, like Attica, evidences a modicum of cultural continuity in the aftermath of the Catastrophe. The new style compares with the old, however, in an impoverished way. The people resettle not so much in the old places as in difficult-to-reach mountain fastnesses. The new architecture is – defensive.”

“Widespread drought leading to famine and disease, which the records of Hatti attest, might well have created a social crisis, with a cascading effect, with which administrative inflexibility could not cope. Yet as Drews emphasizes, despite their cumbersomeness, the Bronze Age kingdoms apparently functioned as usual right up to the hour of their sudden demise.”

“…contempt sprung from envy: the envy of the savage who sees across the borders into the ease and luxury of a more highly developed way of life and schemes how he might profit by the labor of others.”

“The cities are vulnerable; a mass of skirmishers can defeat the chariot brigades. The victorious horde can take what it wants from the defenseless settlement – food, wine, plate, and women. Rumors of the Dorian success might well have emboldened the Gasga to descend on Hattusas. Soon, all sorts of marginal people would have reached the decision to strike now and take their chances. No one had a plan. The motive everywhere was invidious, concupiscent, and bestially myopic. It stemmed from long-festering differences and capacities.”

Go to the links and read the whole thing. Then start looking for defensible ground.

From typeay: Fed cop night snipers?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2XiLWgggQU

Folks, this was forwarded to me by a retired Navy SEAL. Make of it what you will. I have no data other than his comments....
typeay

This video appears to show fed agents in CONUS training with issued M4s, all equipped with PVS-14s and aimpoints, as well as suppressors, shooting on a range at night. 2 guys also are seen using IR LADs. The title of the video makes it clear they are training as night snipers. You don't patrol with PVS-14s on your rifle, you patrol with the NVD on your helmet, and use a LAD for fighting/shooting on contact. You mount the PVS-14 on your rifle for static defense, or sniping. It's clear these feds (?) are training as night snipers. Make of it what you will. Some dufus filmed it and put it on youtube, thinking nobody would be ID'd I guess.

The President of Chicago

The more I see of Obama the Narcissist, the scarier he gets. We've had some whopping egos as President before, but this guy takes the cake. I did a search on the question: "What happens when you slap a narcissist?" Although there was no article that offered a direct answer, what I did read about narcissists depressed the heck out of me.

We are not going to get out of this without violence, simply because we have a president who thinks it is all about him and there's no one around him willing to tell him different.

"He will remain in my memory as a fighting hero, a man of great courage."

My thanks to Chris Horton for forwarding me this.

Warsaw ghetto uprising leader Edelman dies at 90

By MONIKA SCISLOWSKA, Associated Press

WARSAW, Poland – Marek Edelman, the last surviving leader of the ill-fated 1943 Warsaw ghetto revolt against the Nazis, died Friday at the age of 90.

Edelman died of old age at the family home of his friend Paula Sawicka, where he had lived for the past two years.

"He died at home, among friends, among his close people," Sawicka told The Associated Press.

Most of Edelman's adult life was dedicated to the defense of human life, dignity and freedom. He fought the Nazis in the doomed Warsaw ghetto revolt and later in the Warsaw city Uprising. And then for decades he fought communism in Poland.

His heroism earned him the French Legion of Honor and Poland's highest civilian distinction, the Order of the White Eagle.

Former Israeli ambassador to Poland Shevach Weiss paid tribute to Edelman.

"He will remain in my memory as a fighting hero, a man of great courage," Weiss said. "He never ceased in his struggle for human freedom and for Poland's freedom."

Marek Edelman.

The uprising at the Warsaw ghetto was the first act of large-scale armed civilian resistance against the Germans in occupied Poland during World War II.

One of the few survivors of three weeks of uneven struggle in the Warsaw ghetto, Edelman felt obliged to preserve the memory of the fallen heroes of that first large-scale Jewish revolt against the Nazis. Each year, on the revolt's anniversary, he laid flowers at Warsaw's monument to the ghetto heroes, and called for tolerance.

"Remember them all — boys and girls — 220 altogether, not too many to remember their faces, their names," he said of the young fighters in a 2008 interview with The Associated Press.

'Man is evil, by nature man is a beast," he said then. Therefore people "have to be educated from childhood, from kindergarten, that there should be no hatred."

He also felt obliged to appeal repeatedly to the world for freedom and peace — even when it had to be won in a fight.

"When you cannot defend freedom through peaceful means, you have to use arms to fight Nazism, dictatorship, chauvinism," Edelman said in the 2008 interview in his apartment in the central city of Lodz, which was filled with portraits of Jews and of scenes reminiscent of the Holocaust.

He worked at a city hospital Lodz, almost to his last day.

Edelman was born Jan. 1, 1919 in Homel, which was then in eastern Poland and is now in Belarus. His family soon moved to Warsaw.

When the Nazis invaded Poland on Sept.1, 1939, Edelman was member of Bund, a Jewish socialist organization that later masterminded plans for resistance against the occupying Germans.

The Germans set up the Warsaw ghetto in November 1940, cramming some 460,000 Jews from the city and from across Poland in inhuman conditions. After a year, almost half the people there had died of disease and starvation.

The resistance plans were implemented April 19, 1943, when the Nazis moved to liquidate the ghetto by killing or sending some remaining 60,000 residents to the death camps. Thousands were put on regular transports to the death camps of Treblinka, Majdanek and Sobibor.

But that April, the well-trained German troops encountered unexpectedly fierce resistance from a few hundred young, poorly armed Jewish civilians, determined to die fighting rather than in gas chambers.

At the age of 23, Edelman took command of a brush-makers unit, based at a brush factory.

"No one believed they would be saved," Edelman said. "We knew the struggle was doomed, but it showed the world there was resistance against the Nazis, that you could fight the Nazis."

"Every moment was difficult. It was two or three or 10 boys fighting with an army," Edelman said in 2008. "There were no easy moments."

They had few guns and no food but were driven by a goal.

The Nazis "wanted to destroy the people and we fought to protect the people in the ghetto, to extend their lives by a day, or two or five," he said.

The ghetto fighters inflicted heavy losses on the Germans, but eventually succumbed. More than 55,000 people were killed or deported to Nazi concentration camps when the uprising failed.

The uprising's leaders were rounded up in a bunker and, seeing no chance of escape, committed suicide on May 8, 1943.

The Nazis razed the ghetto street by street, as part of their so-called "final solution" in which they killed 6 million people in their efforts to wipe out European Jewry.

Edelman was not in the bunker. With a small group of survivors, he left through the sewers to the Aryan side of Warsaw, where he found places to hide and helped coordinate Jewish partisan groups in nearby forests.

The deadly struggle was "worth it ... even at the price of the fighters' lives," he said later. "They could not be saved, anyway."

In August and September of 1944, Edelman fought in the Warsaw Uprising, another ill-fated revolt meant to free the capital from Germans ahead of the advancing Red Army.

After the war, Edelman became a cardiologist in Lodz. He joined the democratic opposition and the Solidarity freedom movement, and was interned under the Dec.13, 1981, martial law aimed against Solidarity.

In the end, the Solidarity movement led to the ouster of communists from power in Poland in 1989.

Edelman's wife, Alina Margolis-Edelman, worked as a nurse in the Warsaw ghetto and after the war became a pediatrician. With their son, Aleksander, and daughter, Anna, she left Poland for France following the communist-sponsored anti-Semitic purges of 1968. She died in Paris on March 23, 2008.

But Edelman never wanted to leave Poland.

"When you were responsible for the life of some 60,000 people, you don't leave and abandon the memory of them," he told the AP.

He held honorary doctorate of the Yale University.

He is survived by his son, Aleksander, his daughter, Anna, and grandchildren Liza and Tomek.

On the other hand, maybe Blackwater's been scammed too.

Unbelievable.

American Police Force = U.S. Training Center = Blackwater = Xe.

Received this over the electronic transom today. Thought you'd like to know that the Hardin MT mystery tracks back to our old Blackwater buddies.

Afternoon Mike~

I thought I'd pass this along to you. From what I can tell, American Police Force is XE, the new name for Blackwater.

1st picture:

From Blackwater's USA's website with the U.S. Training Center logo at the top.

2nd picture:

A domain registry check confirms that the U.S. Training Center website is registered to XE Services. The fact that American Police Force attempted to hide the link by deleting the page on their website is further evidence that they are trying to conceal the fact that they are nothing more than a front group for Blackwater.

The U.S. Training Center is the training facility for Blackwater's front group, American Police Force. This means that the new training facility that American Police Force is trying to build in Hardin is another Blackwater training facility.

Pics attached.

Elephant rotting in the sun. What shall we do about about the GOP?

Folks,

To answer your e-mails collectively, I would first like to say that reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. (Poor ATF.)

Second, I have had several intruding events take me away from the blog, and this will continue for the near future, until (and I have reluctantly concluded this) I must put Sipsey Street into suspended animation in order to finish Absolved.

There are several pieces I am working on now, not the least of which is my second letter to Holder. When that is done and posted, I will suspend day-to-day blogging until Absolved is a completed manuscript.

That said, here is something you should read today, and think about -- hard. If we dodge the many bullets already in flight (unlikely but possible) how do we achieve the aim of restoring the Constitutional Republic politically?

Is that even possible, without the sanguinary effect of civil war?

An old sign allegedly popping up in new places.

This sign is supposed to be popping up at the Mason-Dixon Line these days. I doubt that's true, but perhaps it should be.

This was forwarded to me by Wretched Dog with this comment:

Unproved, but good if true. Whenever I used to commute from Los Angeles and the PDSRK (that is the “People’s Democratic Socialist Republik of Kalifornia) to the family in Kingman, AZ, I often thought (well, every time I crossed the Colorado River and into Arizona) that there should be a sign on the AZ side of the river/border: “Welcome to America.”
