"How to Shoot Down a Drone: Don't. But if you're going to..."

You're hanging out in your backyard when suddenly a drone approaches, a friendly little recreational quadcopter. It zooms over your house before it doubles back and sits there in the sky, hovering over you and staring you down. It doesn't look so friendly anymore. It looks like a spy.

I was just practicing my casting ability, they owe me for 230yds of 40lb test.
If I'm on the jury you will walk, and recoup all your troubles no if, ans or but's.
See a drone, kill a drone.

I do not own a commercial drone, and one that appears on my property does so at its own peril. I will not shoot firearms into the air, as people have been inured and killed that way. I have enjoyed model rocketry for many years. It would be difficult to strike the drone with the rocket. If the rocket has a monofilament net attached, it is surprising how quickly the drone can be neutralized.

A piece of string with a rock tied to each end, thrown up into the air. A thrown or gun launched bird/fish net. A balloon with spectra fishing line tethering it to a rock. ANYTHING, cut resistant (spectra or similar) fishing line, strong string, wire or a rope that will wind around the props and crash these- Weights will flail the other props on the way in, or anchor the sucker, depending on size of the machine.

I'm not good enough with a spin casting rod these days, but any well coordinated kid would be deadly, if in range!

Paint ball gun, same way I take care of hornet/wasp nests.

Rock Salt works great.

A shotgun chambered for 3" shells. BB's or smaller shot. Try it, you'll like it.

It's not worth going to jail, fines, harassment, so I would just hose it down. Most of the things the news calls "drones" are actually quad-copters. A commercial drone would not have any problem with the hose, but a quad-copter would go down pretty easily with at 50-100 psi stream.

Quite a few of these drones are controlled on 27kHz. Cb channels! Fire up the amplifier and watch em twitch!

If it comes over your property, it is equivalent to a peeping tom and should be treated as such.
Of course if you bring it down and they want to confront you, you can keep them at bay with a charge of trespassing.

My 11-87 waterfowl magnum ( that's 3.5" 12 ga.shells) will do fine. Over my property of course.
