Cornyn’s NRA-Backed Mental Health Bill Needs to Address Key Questions

Firearm rights activists need to keep an eye on this one. As we see from the situation in Idaho, the regime doesn't mind using Soviet-style psychiatry to disarm American citizens.
At this writing, the legislative tracking website GovTrack does not provide the text of the bill, but does note it has been referred to committee, where it has a 10% chance of going to the floor, and where it then has a 2% chance of passing. Assuming the people who posted that have the experience monitoring things to make authoritative predictions, we can only speculate if those numbers are expected to change, or if this is all a noisy exercise in election prep and political posturing.

If a person is so "criminal" that they are to be disallowed their right to arms, then adjudicate them accordingly BY JURY TRIAL and then upon conviction...JAIL THEM. Likewise, if a person is sooooo mentally defective as to be soooo "dangerous" as to be disallowed their right to arms, then adjudicate them accordingly BY JURY TRIAL and then upon conviction LOCK THEM UP in those things we call insane asylums (remember them?).

There are criminals one is. There are crazy asses NUTS among us too. There always have been mental defectives of both varieties and there always will be. We must admit it and then do what must be done. Now, to avoid politicians using that authority to lock people away in abusive ways - establish a penalty in kind for such abuse. This way, Any politician who attempts to use this authority nefariously must face the exact penalty they attempted to assign/arrange for their political opponent. We must stop politicians from assembling their "lists" under false pretense - and expose advocacy groups helping them too. We don't need "lists". We need actual criminals in jail and actual looney tunes in asylums. Reject the lists, the "database" by embracing physical location instead!
