Saturday rally to illustrate new paradigm in gun rights advocacy

The thing is, what I think, or what you think is a moot point as far as Saturday’s planned actions are concerned. Regardless of sentiments, fears, cautions and warnings, it’s “Game on,” and the activists will not be deterred. This is the new paradigm all of us, but especially the "gun groups," need to get used to, because it effectively nullifies any "compromises" some may be inclined to agree to. Ultimately, people are going to choose to obey or disobey edicts they know to be wrong, and to decide if they wish to confront those denying them their rights and property. Once the decision is made, our approval and agreement over tactics don't matter. Nothing we say or do is going to stop it. Once the decision is made, we can condemn them as extremists who make us all look bad, as some are doing, or we can remind ourselves that the real extremists are those who disregard oaths, deny rights and force their will on others with life-destroying consequences.

It is eye opening to look at the "compromisers" from this perspective. One set wants us all to compromise this way - only cops and military be "allowed" to go armed. Another set wants only cops and military to go armed with automatics. On to the next crew, they want a compromise where Citizens only have shotguns and bolt action rifles...no handguns. Others, they want the compromise of only having handguns while LEO holds all arms. Another section wants the keep but don't carry compromise. And another subset goes another direction, we should have some access to all arms but that we must gain some kind of forced training and other forms of qualifying factors. Heck, there are even some who go out there wanting nobody to ever have any guns under any circumstances.

Then you have gun owning Liberty minded folks who proclaim the straight truth - this entire debate was DECIDED long long ago with THE COMPROMISE itself called the bill of rights - which became the supreme law of the land.... The Constitution itself.

Many don't like to admit it - but those ARE the two sides.
We all must choose which side we are on and we all must accept the responsibility for our choice. If one finds themselves on a side they feel uncomfortable with or embarrassed by, tough. That is how truth works.

The situation and the moment have been coming for a long time. Now it is clearly before us and Ben Franklin's words about hanging together -- or separately, as the case may be -- remind us again of what is at stake.

May our domestic blood enemies throw up their hands and say "Sorry we bothered you. We're going home now to live in peace and Liberty with our neighbors."

In the event that doesn't happen, good luck to you, and may I see you on the FEBA.

The truth is there comes a time when, if you comply with gun control laws, the line is crossed and citizens no longer have firearms that enable the capability to resist tyranny. That time has come and passed in NY & CT. Once semi-auto rifles and standard capacity magazines are gone, the balance of power is firmly tipped away from citizens. Gun control, for all it's excuses, is nothing more, and nothing less, than an arms race! As government militarizes and coordinates federal, state, and local law enforcement - they are taking the right of citizens to own firearms capable of "militia" duty. A .45 or a 12 ga may be OK if someone is kicking in your door, but they are under ranged pop guns in the field! If we let our rifles go to gun control - THE FIGHT IS OVER, AND WE HAVE LOST! We have the right, through the second amendment, to own rifles empowering us to come together and WIN against any opponent! The second amendment is a right to power! Once government makes us "harmless to schoolchildren" - we are nothing more than a controlled people at the mercy whatever tyranny comes our way.
NOT ONE MORE INCH!!!

My thoughts, prayers, and admiration are with you in this demonstration of the power of Constitutional rights.

I also believe that the best laws regarding firearms are Vermont's.

No permits needed or issued, residents and non-residents may carry anything as they wish.

Only gun laws-no carry in courts, schools, or corrections institutions without permission. Many hunter safety programs are taught in school buildings after hours and permission is easily obtained.

No loaded rifles or shotguns in motor vehicles (so you won't be tempted to poach deer).

I understand we are next to be attacked by Bloomberg's billions.

Our state Constitution won't allow it to go very far.

Since there's no way to reply to individual comments: The 'anonymous' comment that ended 'not one more inch' is the best encapsulation I've seen in a while.

I'm going to steal it, with attribution and post it to my news site.

Thank you for the compliment. As far as I'm concerned, there is no more urgent, important cause to be fought than this fight for our second amendment rights. I looked at your sight and would consider it an honor to have you use the piece I wrote. Please edit it, inserting the "of", as in "at the mercy of whatever tyranny comes our way."
