The ORIGINAL gathering place for a merry band of Three Percenters. (As denounced by Bill Clinton on CNN!)
Obama to ban bullets by executive action, threatens top-selling AR-15 rifle.
LATER: And Rush Limbaugh too. Maybe this will help flush some more Fudds our way.
"Groups like the National Shooting Sports Foundation suggest that under BATFE’s new rule, other calibers like popular deer hunting .308 bullets could be banned because they also are used in AR-15s, some of which can be turned into pistol-style guns."I suspect they mean AR-10's, but you can see the focus of NSSF (National Super Stupid Fudds) on hunting deer. No mention about the need for hunting politicians.
Of course, if the GOP Congressfolk REALLY wanted to put their feet down, it would be as simple as pie: no budget and no "continuing resolutions" that include appropriations for BATFE. Yes, they can; they have a majority of the House where all revenue bills must originate.Oh, you say you don't have enough GOP-only support to slam those brakes on? Pity...
Rex - that's it exactly. And that's why BARRY did this now. It's a wrench thrown in the homeland security funding fight.
I am somewhat gun ill-literate. What exactly does this mean for the AR-15? Was the most common ammo banned, or are there still (for the moment) plenty of other bullets that can be used for the AR-15? Were these green tips the most letal style of bullet for the ATF or what?
Anon 5:33pm-Every normal 5.56x45mm or .223 round the AR15 can fire will penetrate soft armor just like the round the ATF plans to ban can. Long term many folks are worried this will be the beginning of the ATF banning the sale and manufacture of most AR15 ammo.
Anon 5:33 PM,The ATF intends to declare a specific type of 5.56 bullet (the M855 aka SS109 aka "green tip") to be "armor piercing" and thus unavailable for private purchase. To answer your other question, no the green tips aren't a particularly good bullet and their lethality is actually less than other types (such as the older Vietnam-era M193). The main significance to shooters is that green tip has a lot of manufacturing logistics behind it and has long been a source of inexpensive quality ammo. Removing it from the equation puts the squeeze on the rest of the market.
5:33PM The XM855 is what is known as LAP, or light armor piercing. Basically, I think the ATF is going back to that tired old line about "cop killer" bullets, since there are now AR-15 "pistols." But, like the man said, criminals are less likely to use them than smaller, more easily concealed handguns.
Cruz: "The Next 20 Months Are Going to Be Very Dangerous"Prior to his speech at CPAC Thursday afternoon, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) didn’t mince words. He bluntly told reporters how nervous he is about the president’s final 20 months in office.“The next 20 months are going to be very dangerous,” he said. “They are going to be dangerous at home. President Obama has reacted to this last election in a way that’s unprecedented. You know, prior presidents have been repudiated [and] they’ve reacted with contrition. [P]resident Obama, instead, reacted with anger and defiance.”http://townhall.com/tipsheet/danieldoherty/2015/02/26/cruz-the-next-20-months-are-going-to-be-very-dangerous-n1962940
If I was of the mentality to actually want to cause fatal harm to anyone wearing soft, hard or any other type of armor, I would want something that would cause the fatality without having to even hit in the area of the armor. The mob used to rub their bullets in garlic, causing infection in the wound. This can also be done with viler things, like cat or dog excrement. The Viet Cong did that on the end of Pungy sticks to cause infection. The infection is not immediately discovered when treating the wound, and by the time it is discovered the victim is usually pretty close to death. Far more body parts are exposed to a gunshot wound than are protected by body armor. The same nonsense of banning so-called "dum-dum" bullets or hollow points in pistols also applies here. Any lead bullet can have a carefully cut "X" cut across the tip. Upon impact it mushrooms widely, creating a similar affect as a hollow point...My point to all this is: there's many ways to skin a cat. Our military has pretty darn good armor, but even they don't seem to be impervious to a towel-head with an AK that he cleans with only his shoelaces..
My brother in law, whose sum total intelligence I have had doubts about, told me was going to gouge his stash of M855 and make himself a profit. I though to myself, " you dumb so of a bitch". Well, at least that ammo has a chance of falling into the hands of a 4GW patriot who might even send it the direction of the perpetrators of this national fiasco...at high speed.Don't blow away your battle field ammo at the range, folks. I think we are going to need it sooner than later when the armed resistance gets started.
I think Holder is anticipating Americans feeling the need to shoot at cops in the near future...both local AND federal. Has anybody checked out the situation of Marshal Law preps being made by the federal boys?
No wonder. The paper is owned by the Moonies who also own 7 gun manufacturers/firearm related businesses. It's in their best interest to print these kinds of articles to gin up sales.
