“The only difference between the FBI and the KGB is that the Soviet secret police never pretended to be a legitimate law enforcement agency.”

Ashamed to say that what with all the health issues these past days I neglected to mark the anniversary of Ruby Ridge. William Grigg does a great job of putting it all into the larger context here -- "Ruby Ridge: The Age of State Terrorism Begins."

As I read this, I remembered my trip back to Wahpeton, ND in 1983... Driving down the Interstate, right outside Valley City there were Cops everywhere, Helicopters overhead. Seems a FBI man was shot and killed by a Farmer, Gordon Kaul. Mr. Kaul lost his son that day also, and eventually Mr. Kaul would be burned to death in a farmhouse...By the FBI & ATF.

Nope - there is another difference: The KGB had some integrity as eventually they simply stood aside and let the 'Iron Curtain' crumble into rust.
