NYPD: The gang that couldn't shoot straight. What a great argument for more gun control, right Bloomie?

"NYPD Confirms: Our Bullets Injured All 9 Bystanders."
NYPD chief Ray Kelly confirmed today that all nine bystanders wounded in yesterday's shooting near the Empire State Building were injured by police bullets, reports CNN. The two officers who approached Jeffrey Johnson fired 16 rounds after he pulled his gun on them at point-blank range, and authorities think at least seven rounds hit Johnson, reports Gothamist. (See surveillance video of the shooting here.)
“We recovered whole bullets from two of the victims," Kelly said. "Actually, we think a total of the three out of the nine bystanders were struck with bullets, the rest were struck with fragments of some sort.” Of the nine, six were treated and released from local hospitals by this morning. The other three were in stable condition, reports the New York Times. It remains unclear whether Johnson got off any rounds himself after pointing his gun at police.

Saw an article earlier today (sorry, can't find now) that stated this foolish department actually, and intentionally increases the required trigger pressure for an occifer to cause a discharge. This.. imbicles, necessarily causes a lack of control in an intense situation. Where were these idiots armorors trained, SPLC?

There is a TV Series in this: "Bloomie and the Preposterous Lie"

I am wondering what the consequences would have been if any of these innocent civilians were able to use deadly force against the NYPD, in an effort to protect their own life. At the very least, there would have been 2 dead cops, for it is highly likely that the civilians would be better marksmen.

Let's now hear a bit about how a bunch of beer-bellied yahoos with John Wayne fantasies dancing in their heads would do so much better at avoiding hitting bystanders in a real life armed exchange with bad guys than intensively trained police officers. C'mon, give us a chuckle.

If that NY street had been populated by readers of this blog, there'd have been a pile of dead bodies on that street, and many of the corpses would have been Vanderboegh's blog buddies, shot in a circular firing squad by their country bumpkin comrades.

Sorry for bringing some reality to your little fantasy land. You may now return to jerking off to old John Wayne movies.

Better not publish this one either, Mike. Give in to your old Stalinist instincts and suppress inconvenient facts with all your might. You pathetic little toad.

Gauleiter Bloomberg does not understand what all the fuss is about. Only mundanes were hit, not persons of quality, and even then, none of these wretched peasants actually died. In fact, they each received - at no cost to themselves, mind you - a gift from His Majesty's tax coffers, in the form of a bullet. They should be thankful, not angry.

I heard a rumour that the 2 Marksmen were desk jockies from some terrorism taskforce padding their Pension over their last few years.

Cops need to be charged for hitting innocent bystanders.

Shooter had *AT MOST* 2 rounds left in his 1911.

Cops both wearing armor.

This is beyond disgusting, yet (naturally) all the leftards posting at the usual freak-shows still beating the drum for more gun-control...

Which cops were there? Besides Goober, Gomer, and Barney.........maybe Otis and Floyd?

Maybe those clowns on the NYPD need to watch some Mayberry reruns and find out why Andy on;y gave Barney one bullet.

I just had to respond to the "John Wayne fantasy" comment. I have been carrying a sidearm as a police officer and civilian for 37 years. I've had two occasions against suspects who were armed with a firearm. In both cases, I was fortunate enough to be close enough and early enough that it was quicker to simply disarm the suspect than draw my own weapon. Of course, that is what they teach you in the academy (or at least they did in my day), watch their hands because they are what will kill you. But to fire my weapon without knowing where the bullet is going to go was (and still is) unthinkable IMHO. Sounds like those "intensively trained" officers were trained the wrong way.

The answer here, obviously, is to completely disarm the general populace, and give the police full auto.

A friend pointed me to the video of the shooting and after watching it, we agreed that it is likely that all hits on the killer were likely by one officer, and all bystanders were probably shot by the other.

When you watch, the cop on the left (from the camera point of view, sidesteps between planters possibly looking for cover, stays close to the killer, stands still, and uses two hands.

The other cop runs away on a diagonal track, wildly firing one handed.

If it turns out that our speculation is true, the one cop should be commended and the other canned and sued.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that NYPD issue Glocks are modified to have a very heavy trigger pull (10 lbs +) which adversely affects accuracy.
