Rural Sheriffs Refuse to Enforce Federal Gun Laws

“State police and highway patrol get their orders from the governor,” the sheriff said. “I get my orders from the citizens in this county.” Lewis and other like-minded sheriffs have been joined by groups like Oath Keepers and the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, both of which encourage law enforcement officers to take a stand against gun control laws.

Well, they get to choose which laws they follow. The essence of 'law and order', I guess.

Not unlike their support for Jim Crow in the days of Federal Civil Rights intervention.

As the only law enforcement official who is elected by the people, the Sheriff has authority over all other law enforcement in his county. That includes State and National.

"has authority over all.."
Is that statement what you wish, or what exists in your state?

Not so where I live (Alameda Co., California). Am glad it is not so here!

This is definitely a step in the right direction. Now if only they'd refuse to enforce laws against ALL victimless crimes, that would go a long way toward making America into a free country that respects its own Bill of Rights.
