AK-47s become hot commodity after U.S. sanctions

This link was sent to me by a reader along with this comment:
So just what is the 'surprising effect' the author suggests in the article title? Is it that Americans are keen to add a Russian AK to their collection in spite of Barry Hussein's EO? It shouldn't be. People always want to exercise their freedom in the face of tyranny, particularly Americans. Remember there have been over 100,000,000 NICS checks since the imposter has been POTUS! Also, the last sentence infers the rifles in hot demand and briskly selling now are full automatics. This is of course not true and is misleading to the uninformed and gullible, a typical and common government approved mass media tactic designed to prejudice the jury.

Funny that the gun sheep don't want to realize that Obama didn't ban AK-47s. He just banned RUSSIAN AKs , which make up ,what? 5% of the build market?

Probably more than 5% because Russian rifles are more expensive than Romanian, Egyptian, Serbian, Polish and some Bulgarian rifles and AK kits. This excludes the unmodified Saiga rifles which were pretty inexpensive until 5 days ago. However parts, barrels, receivers, furniture made by Kalashnikov Concern are forbidden fruit by POTUS. Barry Hussein hates American gun owners, his body guards excluded I hope, and will do more ti infringe before the US Constitution kicks him out of DC. Oh and there are numerous small businesses here which have provided numerous and varied services to the Russian AK community who are very finicky about their military like collectibles.

And IIRC there are very few legal foreign made transferrable AKs. The Feds were not allowing imports of them prior to Reagan's cut-off date. I have been told some of the full auto gunshops bought conversion licenses for AKs they owned before that date but that is also the subject of ongoing litigation (as seen on this site but about different families of weapons)

I had planned to buy a Romy AK several weeks before Obama's sanctions hit the press, but had to wait until yesterday for funds.

Went to J&G Sales in Prescott, AZ to pick mine out/up (you know the build quality on a low end AK).

Store was PACKED. And there was a big gun show this weekend in Phoenix. Summer is normally their slow time (according the the guys working the counter) and while there for a half hour, numerous discussions occurred on the CIC's diktat....

Most were buying AKs. Some were buying multiples. It didn't seem to matter than only Russian AKs were sanctioned against.....people saw it as a way to thumb their noses at Obama as well as buy something that will likely go up in price due to increased demand....b/c when the Russian AKs sell out....people will also buy the Eastern European and even US produced versions as well. The more demand, the higher the price.

Big thing to buy now, IMO, is more ammo if you don't have thousands of rounds stockpiled. While a lot of Tula, Wolf and Red Army are made in Ukraine....a lot (like Barnaul) is made in Russia. A ban on that could seriously hurt availability of X39 ammo.

When are you going to understand that you can't shame those without shame into doing the right thing, just as you can't force those who don't care to give a fuck?

Every time the panic cools Berry the fairy steps up to fuel the panic and keep them sales HOT. What you bet, that Berry bans ONE CAL. of ammo and the gun sheep respond by paying 100$ a box for .22 or 200$ for a box of .45. Like gun Yoda says "the stupid is strong with them"

Barry the Bang ... Gun Salesman of the decade!

Next Russian AKs will be smuggled in from Mexico and points South. REAL full auto ones. The pipeline is there - just got to reverse the flow.

Rejoice that Barry and his ilk are such damned fools.

It's the basic law of "supply" and "demand". That which was formerly in plentiful supply, and therefore inexpensive, once it becomes banned (scarce), it will become expensive.

This basic Law of Economy can be applied to any commodity, anywhere, at anytime.

And the reverse is also true. That which is banned/scarce and therefore expensive, if it is made legal, now becomes cheap and plentiful. Apply this to the Nixon era "War On Drugs", and voala! the profit motive for the drug gangs and cartels is gone.

I leave the remainder of the conclusions as an exercise for the student. Unfortunately, some students ("Re"gressives, DemonRats, Libtards, RINOs, and other inter-related statists and authoritatians will NEVER learn - unless it's at the end of a rope.)
