Praxis: 82nd Airborne Tries Ultralight Vehicles

Whether the Army buys more vehicles depends on tests conducted by the 82nd. Soldiers have evaluated the Polaris MRZR-4, dubbed the light tactical all-terrain vehicle (LTATV), for increased mobility during airfield seizure operations, and the vehicle would provide a rifle company with an air-droppable maneuver and small arms platform.

The Polaris stock (PLL on NYSE), is up almost 8% in a couple weeks. If you have the resources, this may be a good stock to dump some cash into. Pays a dividend (1.4%), and is below its all time high. If the US Military starts buying lots of these ultra lite vehicles, look for a huge stock price run up.

We used to have such a vehicle, it was the JEEP. Problem was that they tried to make it do things it was NOT designed for, just like what has been done with the Hummer.

When I was with the Combat Development & Test Center, Bangkok, Thailand, back in 1962, one of the vehicles we tested was a light German-made thing. Can't remember the name now, but it was very maneuverable, moderate speed, could travel over rough ground. Sounds like the kind of thing the paratroops need for mobility once they hit the ground.

Little Army (SOCOM) has been using the MZR for a few years. Dual spare tires, hush kits. Five point racing harnesses, and MG mounts. The trickle down effect to Big Army. These are quiet and fast! Polarisdefense.com

Give the Army bureaucrats a coupla years and the things will easily mass more than the largest model of civilian hummer and be less usable. Never bet against the bureaucracy to screw something up proper.

When I read "ultralight vehicles," I was picturing a bunch of soldiers flying around in paragliders.

They could just wait to see if Hitlery gets elected. I'm sure that witch has legions of flying monkeys. :-)
