A message from the office of Senator Christopher Murphy
Thank you for contacting me about the Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss this legislation with you.
Last Congress, I voted against proceeding to the Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act, a bill aimed at boosting hunting and fishing access and protections. The bill was defeated in the Senate by a vote of 41-56 on July 9, 2014, failing to overcome the 60 vote threshold to be considered. I opposed this legislation, which has been reintroduced this Congress, because I deeply believe that before Congress debates a bill expanding gun usage on federal lands, we must first address the plague of gun violence in our communities. Since the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the U.S. Congress has done nothing to prevent gun violence in our schools, in our homes, and on our streets. Confronting that issue needs to be our first focus—not expanding recreational gun rights.
This legislation would also bar the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), without a single public hearing, from regulating lead and chemicals used in ammunition, firearms components, and sports-fishing equipment. While the EPA has thus far declined to regulate bullets for their effects on human health and the environment, unilaterally depriving it of the ability to ensure that hunting and angling equipment does not threaten the well-being of people or wildlife is short-sighted.
Please know that I will continue to be an advocate for our environment and public lands as your Senator. I have consistently been an advocate for protecting public lands throughout our nation—from supporting threatened regions in Utah through the America's Red Rock Wilderness Act, to helping recognize Connecticut's Metacomet Monadnock Mattabesett (MMM) Trail by passing the New England National Scenic Trail Designation Act while in the House of Representatives.
Thank you again for contacting me about this matter. I appreciate hearing from you and assure you that I will always do my best to represent the views of my constituents in the Senate. In the future, please do not hesitate to call me in my Connecticut office at (860) 549-8463 or in my Washington office at (202) 224-4041.
Every Best Wish,

Christopher S. Murphy
United States Senator

PLEASE FORWARD TO ALL SPORTSMAN, SO ALL WILL KNOW WHERE COMMUNIST MURPHY STANDS

In plain English Murphy is a popinjay piss of shit. Just like all the other progressive congress critters from Ct. If I had the $ I would vote with my feet. To get away from the progressive collectivists. Who rule in Ct. Not one believes in the Founder's Republic. Behind Enemy Lines. In Unconstitutional, collectivist, Ct. We Will Not Stand Down. I still maintain that the reason you can legally possess your firearms and ammo today is because of the efforts of the NRA-ILA in its lobbying efforts and its efforts in court to defeat the gun-grabbers. It shall continue that way because of the support of over 5 million NRA members and the skilled leadership of people like Chris Cox and Wayne LaPierre of The NRA. If you would rather have a shooting war and if you think that would be better than fighting them the way The NRA does, they you must have a death wish greater than mine. I will gladly continue to support The NRA. You are wrong to stop supporting them because they sometimes make a mistake. What if you got treated that way or I guess you are perfect and never make a mistake?

Hey Mike, why don't you and David become enemies of the gun-grabbers instead of trying to bring down The NRA? You might actually accomplish something to help our 2nd Amendment rights that way. Neither one of you are accomplishing very much in that regard these days. Oh, by the way, it takes MONEY to defeat anti-gun candidates. Why don't you and David give The NRA some money to help them continue defeating anti-gun candidates, instead of just bitching about The NRA?

You're pissing in the wind, Mike. Why don't you join The NRA and help us continue defeating anti-gun politicians - or would you rather just continue what you're doing, which accomplishes nothing but to hurt our cause? As good as you are at speech writing, delivering speeches and writing articles, you could be using your skills for a positive effect with The NRA instead of bitching at them like a little rooster. You're hurting our cause now. Work with The NRA and you could be helping. Hell man, you could be writing great articles or editorials for the NRA magazines and helping our cause instead of hurting it as you're doing now. Diminishing The NRA most certainly hurts the cause of Liberty, so how about stopping doing it! I saw you in Nashville and I'm ashamed that your purpose there was apparently to hurt The NRA. That is very biased Mike and is not objective.I ask you again to stop trying to hurt The NRA.

I tried to read the "Examiner" post but those pesky pop-up ads kept covering my computer screen.
Guess it's time to just SKIP anything from Examiner.
