Sheer, bloody madness. My thanks to Irregular K7C for bringing this to my attention.

What I don't understand is why she would sign up if she didn't want their involvement.

All,

It was quickly brought to my attention that the Lew Rockwell blog post concerning the "helpful" police was misleading: the "Blue Angels" program is indeed voluntary, and is a program located in Franklin Township, New Jersey. The incident shown on the video, however, did not occur in NJ, nor did it have anything to do with any type of program similar to the cited "Blue Angels" program - it occurred in Prairie Village, Kansas (KS story at: http://www.kansascity.com/2010/03/31/1848361_one-person-shot-by-police-in-prairie.html?storylink=omni_popular#ixzz0jrUUmjeZ). The blog entry does not do a very good job of underscoring that significant point while it tries to demonstrate how a program such as "Blue Angels" could very easily go awry, as opposed to has.

My apologies to all for not catching this prior to sending the message off, and thank you to the trusted (and unnamed) LEO that brought this to my attention. If the news story from KS is truthful in its facts, then the LEOs involved would definitely have been justified in the use of deadly force as a weapon was being presented by a demonstrably unstable person within striking range.

That said, the "Blue Angels" program and any like it will most likely lead to various unintended consequences for all parties involved as time goes on.

Stay free,
K7C

i didn't think it was misleading, it's entirely characteristic. you'll see more. they are not the exact same program -- not even the same state -- but the difference is made clear. grigg rarely fails us. he sees the connection.

all this aside, the video is enraging enough on its own.

Back in the early '80, I lived in the apartment next door to a woman who apparently decided that the only way to exorcise her demons was to take them out with a 12 ga shotgun. My wife and I were asleep at the other end of our apt when the exorcism began, so the 11 holes in our living room wall didn't result in any injuries. We got out safely and the cops took her down with flashbangs and gas, since she was apparently out of ammo by that time.

I'm going to wait for more information before I make a judgement on the cops.

Don't mistake me: Like straightarrow, my default position is that the government is lying, but I'll wait for more data.

I wonder what doctor prescribed drugs this lady was taking...

A great deal of the psychosis in this country can be directly traced to prescribed drugs... especially when the person is started on them very young.
