The Illustrated Road to Serfdom by Hayek

Folks,

I found this link here for an old illustrated cartoon strip of Hayek's Road to Serfdom. Folks who are familiar with my story know that it was the reading of Road to Serfdom (the book not the cartoon) on a dare and the gentle tutelage of an old ex-Wehrmacht surgeon who dared me that saved my soul from the dark side of collectivist stupidity.

Let your kids read the cartoon. Anybody above the age of eighteen should read the book.

Once upon a time I considered myself a "libertarian socialist." Problem was, I could never find anyone who could present a reasonable economic system that was socialist. In the course of my reading, I decided to give Milton Friedman a whirl. While at the bookstore looking for a Friedman book, I saw Hayek's Road to Serfdom because it had been misfiled on the shelf. Someone had seen Friedman's name on the cover, since he wrote an introduction, and therefore it was filed with Friedman's books. A quick read of the back cover convinced me to buy The Road to Serfdom. I read it and abandoned the "socialist" part of "libertarian socialist," for I had learned that there could be no such thing. It really was a life changing book.

Hey ladies and fellas, could that series of cartoons be used as an X minutes to midnight clock? Ie, we are currently on frame #10 out of

I live in a country headed for frame # 14 - the temperature on the frogs is getting to the point that they are not nearly dead, but neither can they move out of the rapidly heating water any longer.

How close is the US to turning point?
