Calling All Pragmatists: Get the NRA off their dead asses on Holder.

Pragmatists such as Sebastian at Snowflakes in Hell are loud in their support for the National Rifle Association. I would draw their attention to the email I just received from Pete at WRSA:

Just spoke to Angus McClellan ("like the general" - sheesh!) at NRA-ILA about getting an email alert out to the NRA membership in opposition to Holder. He was wishy-washy ("not sure what good that would do") but said that he would bounce it off a few people and get a response back to me at this email address.

Suggest that we each on our sites put out a request for action from all NRA members to call Mr. McClellan and urge NRA to issue an email alert in opposition to Holder. I don't have a direct number, but folks can call the main number at 800-672-3888 and ask for Mr. McClellan. If you get voice mail, call back, ask for ILA, and speak directly to someone there.

I will keep this group in the loop as to any responses.

Can someone pls fwd this message to Larry Pratt and the Knox brothers? Also, pass to anyone else you know can get action to be taken.

Thanks all!

So, my Pragmatist friends, can you call the NRA and get them off their dead "not sure what good that would do" asses and get into the fight against Holder?

And you Three Percenters, I know I can count on you. Flood the NRA switchboard. You know that if we defeat Holder, the NRA will claim credit for it anyway in some future solicitation letter, so they might as well do something to earn it, right?

Another witness to the dead-ass NRA, via email to me this afternoon from another Three Percenter named Mike:

Just got off the phone with McClellan. He was indeed wishy washy on an aggressive move to stop Holder. In the course of the conversation I spoke with him about challenging all the laws since Heller and he tried to argue that the "Congress shall pass no law...." found in the First Amendment(1A) with regard to establish a national religion (but not the rest of the amendment), also applies elsewhere and that therefore the Heller Decision is binding on the Federal Governemnt only.

Firstly, the above phrase simply means that within the context of 1A, it is only CONGRESS that is restricted (The Federal Gov't) from establishing a "state" religion. The states or towns can do as they please (and until almost the 1830s, they did). But GENERALLY, there is no point having a "Bill of Rights" (BOR) that protects rights from Federal abuse but then allows states to trample them. The BOR applies and MUST apply equally to the States as well as the Federal government.

The enumerated and unenumerated (9th amendment) pre-existing rights are protected or guaranteed against all government usurpation regardless of the source of the usurpation (local, state, or federal). We must hammer this home, no legal beagle should be allowed to assert that the BOR does not protect us from State usurpations. Yes I know that the same legal beagles concede that the 14th Amendment imposes the restrictions on states with regard to the 1A, but in fact, with or without the 14th, the BOR makes no sense if it does not protect us from ALL government usurpations and regulations. Our founders had to know better.

I was wholly unimpressed by the man, however I did note that based on his speech, he must be feeling some pressure.

My email to NRA-ILA https://secure.nraila.org/Contact.aspx :

Please exercise all the influence that you have to oppose the nomination of Eric Holder as Attorney General of the United States.

If the NRA-ILA chooses not to oppose this nomination, a public statement of the reasons for your tacit support of Eric Holder is expected.

I am a NRA Benefactor Member and regularly contribute to the NRA-ILA. Any lack of attention to this will be viewed unfavorably.

Thank You
