While it's nice that LaPierre et al. are finally realizing that freedom isn't ONLY about owning weapons, it would have been nice if they'd spoken up about this back when GW Bush was eviscerating the Bill of Rights. Where were they when Bush was doing the same things that Obama is doing today?
Part of me is GLAD Obama was elected. If it had been a Republican in there instead, most so-called "conservatives" would undoubtedly remain perfectly complacent about the accelerating erosion of our freedom, just as they were when GWB was president. Far too many Americans continue to wear partisan blinders, and the NRA doesn't help matters by shilling for the Republican Party. I wouldn't be surprised if they're false opposition.
On a related note, ever notice how in emails and letters the NRA uses lines like, "If this legislation passes, your guns are history!"? That's highly annoying. Since when do we have to turn in our guns just because someone writes a law demanding that we do so? The NRA isn't the last line of defense for gun rights -- our guns are, and Americans need to keep that in mind.
Hey Anonymous @7:29am....I'm pretty effing tired of folks like you always whining about George Bush. George Bush II is H-I-S-T-O-R-Y. Do you Bush whiners understand that ? We've had nearly six years of continuous attacks on our freedoms by a constitutionally ineligible and illegal non-citizen, anointed into POTUS. And you want to keep M-F'ing George Bush ? Your freakin' priorities are all askew !
Quit bitching about Bush. Because what the NRA did or didn't do 10 years ago when Bush was around, is irrelevant to what the criminal soetoro-obama is doing NOW !
