Mr. Grand is just another self-serving progressive who thinks that *HE* is smarter than everyone else and that *HE* knows what's best, and therefore, people like him are the ultimate authority which must be obeyed. He obviously wrote this "piece" out of frustration that the "little people" don't recognize him as the source from which all Rights are "given".
I have no 'given' rights - I claim them and defend them as my forebears have ... with cold steel and hot fire!
Those that would take the rights claimed needs must be well armed and defended - history should tell them of the consequences.
Burbling dotards who would have mercinaries do their dirty work need to study the ways of their paid assistants. They have no defence against either them or us.

Apparently God himself places little to no value on the bounty of "rights" he has bestowed upon humankind, as these rights are so easily stripped away with a simple pull of the trigger, or the mere words of a liar.
One would think rights from a divine source would be a bit more durable in the face of common human tyranny.
Anon@9:36, since you do not sound like somone who has studied the Bible much, I will spell it out for you.
God made this world and everything in it, giving us dominion over all other created things. We were created IN HIS IMAGE, which means we have free will (sentience) - unlike the animals (Genesis 1:26-28).
Free agency is the greatest freedom of all, and if some men choose to abuse this gift, this is not God's fault. If one surrenders their God-given Rights through ignorance or laziness, that too is not God's fault. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of God, I also will ignore your children." (Hosea 4:5,6)
So God places great value on the gifts that He gives us because he values us so much. You cannot impute the actions of Satan or those who serve him upon our Creator any more than you can punish one man for the crimes of others, without yourself transgressing the Law of God.

Declaring that the Bible is the "word of God" because the book itself says it is the word of God is a nonsensical and circular argument - e.g. "I can prove the unprovable by quoting a source whose origin can't be proven."
The fact is you've chosen tunnel vision and any other possibility must be "a trick of the devil", or similar horseshit reasoning.
