You can buy the wide ranging kiddo assortment at the grocery for the price on one hardware store wood touch up stick for minor stock scratches and the like that are really generally just big wood colored crayons, too, and still have all the non-wood colored ones for non-stock and furniture touch up tasks. In my experience, crayola holds up as well as hardware store sticks for minor scratches.
If one was inclined, one could make candles, wax/paper or string "firestarters, and most other things you might use wax for in a survival situation. Better colorful wax than no wax if you need wax.

I have seen real world tests that show most crayons will burn for about 15 minutes.
