Amnesty could remove firearms disabilities from millions of current lawbreakers

Shoot, yeah, let's arm all those criminal illegals: At a time when the Obama administration is pushing new “gun control” measures as needed national public safety priorities, an unspoken effect of its “bipartisan” plan for “immigration reform” could be to remove federal firearms disabilities from millions of people who have already broken federal immigration law and who are thus currently prohibited by United States Code from possessing a firearm.

I know I may be getting to sounding like a broken record, but this is another critical difference between Gun Owners of America and the NRA.

The article said; "Add to this another concern, articulated by Gun Owners of America in an alert issued on Tuesday, that the immigration “reform” bill “will add up to a net 8.4 million anti-gun voters in the next 13 years or so.” Translated, that means most of them, after taking the “path to citizenship,” will probably vote Democrat.

It’s for this reason some gun rights activists are concerned with NRA’s “single issue” stance, arguing the amnesty issue, if left unopposed by them, could make politically defending the Second Amendment a moot point. Just as supporting so-called “pro-gun Democrats,” who then turn around and help elect a man NRA has repeatedly called “the most anti-gun president ever to occupy the Oval Office” works in direct opposition to the interests of gun owners, so too can NRA’s avoidance of “immigration reform” as an issue of relevance and concern."

In short, GOA addresses non-firearms bills that have an impact (direct or otherwise) on our gun rights while the NRA willfully refuses to address these anti-gun backdoor strategies, once again stabbing gun owners in the back. With 'friends' like the NRA, who needs enemies? (...as if we didn't already have enough!)

Ok, all you koolaid-drinking NRA apologists out there, when are you gonna wake up and realize the NRA is no friend of ours when it comes to lobbying for liberty... and they should be constrained to limit their efforts to education, competition shooting, and other activities of a non-legislative or non-judicial matter. Let GOA be the 800 lb. gorilla defender of gun rights!

In other words, if you're an NRA member because you want to defend gun rights, join GOA instead! GOA will give you the tools to stay up to speed on gun defense, and guns rights news along with Mike V., David Codrea, & Kurt Hoffmann.

This is perhaps the sole place where NRA makes more sense than GOA. Even "illegal" people have a right to bear arms. Shunning people who don't have the approved government paperwork is a great way to push them into the gun-hating camp.

Keep in mind that Mike advocates illegal things too.

If immigrants prefer Democrats, maybe it has more to do with Democrats not treating them like dirt, than it does that they are gun haters. I'd bet most poor immigrants see plenty of utility for firearms since they are stuck with living in high crime areas.

I still don't understand how we can have believers in the government religion on a gun blog. Sheesh!
