Birds of a tyrannical feather flock together. Fraternal Order of Police seeks to validate Mark Matis' hatred of cops, backs Eric Holder.

“The FOP is very proud of the strong and positive working relationship that we have had with Eric Holder.”

You know, I delete a lot of Mark Matis' "kill the pigs," "all cops are pigs" mantra comments that y'all never see. Frankly, I think Mark's hatred has overcome his humanity and I just get tired of "the stench is overwhelming" coda to his jeremiads. There are LEOs who are oath keepers. Even better, there are still LEOs who don't consider themselves LEOs at all, but old fashioned "peace officers."

On the other hand, when something like this comes along, you just have to wonder . . .

National Fraternal Order of Police Back Atty. Gen. Eric Holder

Attorney Gen. Eric Holder Jr., whose likely to get a grilling from Republicans over ATF’s Operation Fast Furious when he appears Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, got some welcome backing on Thursday.

Politico reports that the National Fraternal Order of Police, the country’s largest group of sworn law enforcement officers, fired off a letter the committee chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) expressing its solidarity with Holder. The letter did not mention Fast and Furious.

“The FOP is very proud of the strong and positive working relationship that we have had with Eric Holder, not just for the two years in which he has served as the nation’s ‘top cop,’ but through his long career of public service,” wrote Chuck Canterbury, the organization’s National President, according to Politico. “As the brother of a retired law enforcement officer and one of the most dedicated and experienced law enforcement leaders, General Holder has been a true partner to the FOP and to our nation’s rank-and-file officers.”

The letter also emphasized that Holder has worked with the organization on fiscal challenges and officer safety, Politico reported.

So, the "FRATERNAL" Order of "POLICE" endorses an Attorney General whose policies got other cops killed, and who is actively trying to cover that fact up.

Now I can't speak for any cops who send dues to these shitheads who apparently have more in common with their federal masters than they do with the lives and safety of their membership, but that would piss me off.

IF I were a cop.

Which I'm not.

For the record, I am a constitutional militiaman, retired.

It would be interesting to take a poll of a large percentage of the FOP to see who actually DOES support Holder.
It may be the difference between the beat cop walking (driving) the street, and the politicized leadership.

I'm fairly certain I know what the results of that poll would be. The proof of that is shown on a daily basis by the beat cops who close ranks around their Brothers in Blue, no matter HOW FOUL the crime. And has been shown at the National level by the "beat cops" response to Agent McAllister's comment that Agent Terry's death was "collateral damage". Or do you think that ANY of them have refused to work with her? Contrast that to how the "beat cops" respond when one of their Brothers in Blue turn in ANOTHER Brother in Blue for a felony.

But y'all keep on keepin' on. I'm SURE you're right, and the VAST MAJORITY are fine men and woman who I defame by my cursing of their acts. Certainly it is only their "politicized leadership" who have driven us from being a nation under the Rule of Law to where we are now. I mean, there's certainly NO WAY the vast majority of them spit on their oath of office, bow and scrape before their Masters, and then do WHATEVER they are told. It has to be only a few random outliers who do such things. Shame on me for what I have called them!

F O P has always been a "left" organization. They have many times called for more gun laws and stood behind criminal socialist sociopaths on the road to commieville. Another wolf in sheeple clothing like the National Lawyers Guild.

While I do not condone murder, Mr. Matis has a point. I was a peace officer for 30 years in SoCal. I saw the "devolution" of my profession occur in the 80's with the contrived "war on drugs". As soon as law enforcement agencies saw how much wealth they could accumulate through asset forfeiture, then the whole concept of "public servant" went out the window. Academies started training their recruits that it was "us versus them". While you will still find a few dedicated professionals out there, most are just concerned about doing their time and collecting their pensions. On the federal level, it's positively scary. The homicidal excesses of the FBI, Marshals, and the BATFE have been sadly documented ever since Ruby Ridge. And, with the media propaganda reality shows and laughable farces such as "NCIS", "CSI", and the "Law and Order" series, the brain-dead Amerikan public is manipulated to an extent that they will give cops the benefit of the doubt 99% of the time. The only thing, in my opinion that is going to change things is a catastrophic economic meltdown. When the boys and girls in blue cannot collect their pay any more, they will start evaporating like ice on a hot stove. It is already taking place in isolated areas of Amerika. I regret that Mr. Matis is so bitter that he must advocate such drastic measure directed against our boys and girls in blue. But, there is a time and season for all things. And, I sadly believe that we are approaching such a time. 2TIM3.

Taking a poll of FOP members won't matter. The leadership is and has for decades been leftist. They never met a gun law they don't like, was the first tip off and it goes down hill from there.

We're not going to win with this bunch or many agencies who also support the abrogation of the second amendment and the rest of them too! And they have many friends in government at all levels.

I will immediately be canceling my membership

If the 'good cop' were not a mythical creature, the 'small minority' of 'bad cops' would have been arrested the first (and only) time they committed an on-duty felony.

BTW, Mike, did you check out those Paleo diet links this weekend? It's expensive to eat nothing but non starchy veggies and lean meat, but it's also virtually impossible to overeat or have blood sugar problems on that diet. You can probably garden the veggies year round in Alabama if it works for you.

The FOP will have big egg on its face when holder is shit-canned.

But, they don't really care.

The FOP used to be a nice organization to be a member of. However as of late seeing them working with the likes of the Teamsters/SEIU/AFL-CIO etc. ad nausim I'm done with them. I haven't been to a meeting in 15 years and I'm pulling my membership this afternoon. And yes Mike I'm both a Peace Officer and Oath Keeper. And I'm now officially done with being told to hand over my dues and to sit down and shut up!

I can somewhat understand the warped ethic of cops who "look the other way" when when one of their own get jammed up in excessive force or some such situation.... (still unacceptable)

But when they continue to support their corrupt union, and their corrupt masters who so gladly use them up to and beyond death....

How much can I really give a damn?

I stand corrected. I see that more honorable Law Enforcement officers have posted here than what I thought existed in the ENTIRE United States. I am sorry for having thought so poorly of your profession.

I do see, however, that there are ongoing examples of what I have continuously condemned:

There has always been a disconnect between the average street officer and leadership. FOP does not now and has never spoken for us.
