"Fake terror plots, paid informants: the tactics of FBI 'entrapment' questioned." Yeah, but wait until they get a good look at PATCON.

Critics say bureau is running a sting operation across America, targeting vulnerable people by luring them into fake terror plots.

Yup.

NOTE: There has been a change in the situation reported in this space earlier. I will clarify it tomorrow or Monday.

I have trouble with the entrapment defense.

If someone came to me with the idea of getting me to bomb a building or shoot down a plane - I would drop them on the spot.

Ironic that we're learning this from our overseas socialist EuroBritish cousins.
At least the FiBbIes got the "con" part correct.
As my mother (still alive and healthy) would tell me, "The only way two people can keep a secret is of one of them is dead."
So irf you're planning something, keep it to yourself. Once you say something to even one person, one time, don't be surprised at the consequences.

Anon@7:59: Yes, I would drop them on the spot, too. But, if it's done innocently and over time, as undercover cops do, then it works. Look at the Hutaree folks. I'm sure that FBI rat worked them for months and was wired up for any and all conversations, not only with him, but among the others. Effective resistance cells are just that, cells. They have a few trusted people and DO NOT recruit. Rent the movie THE BOONDOCK SAINTS. And, yes, let's all keep our mouths shut.

BW- As my mother (still alive and healthy) would tell me, "The only way two people can keep a secret is of one of them is dead."

I remember from school, and still prefer Franklin's "Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead." That's just me.

Blessings on your mother. Mine would be ninety now had she lived. We lost her in 1994.

"So if you're planning something, keep it to yourself. Once you say something to even one person, one time, don't be surprised at the consequences."

That goes pretty well with what I've told all my children. Don't tell someone what you're planning. If someone earns an ass-whuppin', don't tell him you're gonna kick his ass, just do it.

The days of dueling for honor, be it with fists, swords, or pistols, are gone. When I was a kid, if you had a beef with somebody, you did your business bare-knuckled one on one outside the shop class after school, or in gym class with gloves and headgear if the coaches were up for it.

The minute you say you're going to do something to someone, you've shown that you are planning something. It used to be called "malice aforethought;" I don't know what they call it these days, but it's gonna bite your butt and you can take that to the bank.

Keep your own counsel; listen more than you speak.

What the hell is Newsweek doing coming out with this story lo these many years after the happening? I am glad to get the truth out there and expose evil wrongdoers for sure, but why now?

Oh, I will buy my first copy of Newsweek in years in support of this effort to right history and reveal the rabble!

Sociopaths do not care if you expose their hypocrisy and criminal acts. They only care whether or not they got away with it.

A quick google on "PATCON fbi" showed some interesting stuff going back many years.

I'm stocking up on popcorn (and ammo) and looking forward to this new info...

Mike, you said this PATCON business will embolden the GOP to press the case against Holder. I think you should have said it might embolden them. The Republicans already have the biggest political scandal in our great nation's history sitting in their lap and they are being anything but bold.

Entrapment comes in many forms. Recently, I was asked to sell some ammo to a friend of a friend. No big deal, we dropped it off at his mom's house for him and went on about our business.

American Terror Force took the door of my house nearly a year later, held my children at gunpoint, and stole almost 80 weapons.

Turns out the "friend of a friend" was a felon, and a member of a "gang". (other than the FBI, ATF, etc.)

Still don't know if I will be formally indicted for the charge of delivering ammo to a felon, but I do know that they still have all my families weapons "for forensic testing" and no release date ion sight.

At the same time, another gent I know was arrested for selling the rifle that the ammo was for.

A Terror Force allowed a CI to aquire a weapon, then trade it to my friend, and then their first CI asked him to sell it to him. He did, and was arrested a year later for selling a firearm to a felon.

Let's see...the ATF provided the wepaon, they allowed a convicted felon to possess and sell it, and allowed another convicted felon to buy it on their behalf............all with my friend firmly stuck in the middle.

Sounds an awful lot like classical entrapment to me.

Mind you this has been going on under TWO republican administrations so the chances of the current herd of pachyderms doing anything constructive?

Be sure that your wives/daughers/mothers meet and spend a little time with all people you associate with. They will usually be able to sniff out a plant without any trouble at all. Trust me that it is true. Most everybody knows to run people past me first and I have yet to be wrong on identifying the scoundrel with an agenda, sometimes within minutes. This unique service women provide should not be overlooked, gentlemen.

These days, even if a good friend came to me with a "plan" or some dark talk, I'd suspect him. And think long and hard about reciprocating. When they popped the Hutaree group, it was one thing, but when they busted those old guys in Georgia...

They're gonna do anything and everything they can right now to make themselves look like they're actually doing their job, because it takes the heat out of the shit they're in up to the hilt.

Why not give the prospective client the website for ammoman.com - or cabelas - and walk away?

Or do you fancy yourself some sort of Sam Cummins?

People should heed the advice of Female III above ... that of running your friends and acquaintances past your significant female other. My wife's nose is seldom wrong, have seen that for close to thirty years.

I run 'em by my dog - much better nose and lots cheaper to maintain.

Its about 11:21 PM on Sunday night.

I just went to Drudge Report, clicked on the link to Newsweek Magazine and read a report up online regarding an FBI informant and right-wing domestic terror. The man in question talks like a moron. There was no mention of PATCON.

This edition of Newsweek may have other articles that deal with PATCON; I do not have the issue in front of me. But then it is Sunday night and the issue is to hit the news stands on Monday.

If what I have just read is the best that Newsweek can print, I think you have been had, Mike.
